After releasing its line-up of shows this summer through a program TV plug, GMA-7 has also revealed the programs that will air in the second half of 2017.
An article published by GMANetwork.com revealed the titles of these upcoming shows that will star Kapuso primetime stars, including Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
MARIAN'S PRIMETIME COMEBACK. Marian is set to return on GMA Telebabad via the TV series titled The Good Teacher.
No details were provided regarding this show, but this confirms Marian's comeback on primetime after meeting with GMA executives last February.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters during her February 16 taping for Dear Uge, the 32-year-old actress divulged that her upcoming show will cater to kids.
Before she makes her primetime comeback, Marian is set to topbill the first episode of GMA-7's fantasy sitcom Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko. She will also host the OFW anthology Tadhana.
ALYAS ROBIN HOOD BOOK 2. Dingdong Dantes's drama series Alyas Robin Hood will also return to TV for its Book 2.
When the series aired its finale last February, it ended in a cliffhanger since Pepe (Dingdong) had to deal with the kidnapping of his mother (played by Jaclyn Jose).
Andrea Torres will reprise her role as Dingdong's leading lady Venus. Megan Young's character Sarri, who served as Dingdong's other love interest, won't be part of Book 2 since her character was killed in the last episode.
Alyas Robin Hood can be considered one of the most controversial TV programs aired in 2016, after it was accused of copying the Hollywood series Arrow.
However, creative consultant Suzette Doctolero explained that the Pinoy action series is inspired by the master plot of Robinhood, which Arrow is also based on.
ONSCREEN RETURNS. Meanwhile, two homegrown Kapuso love teams will also be seen together again on television.
Real-life couple Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez will topbill the series I Heart Davao, produced by GMA News and Public Affairs.
This upcoming GMA Telebabad series tells the story of Hope, who gets a life-changing experience after undergoing a heart transplant. Her love life will also be involved as she discovers the identity of her heart donor.
Aside from I Heart Davao, Carla will also be seen in Mulawin vs. Ravena as Aviona, while Tom will have a special participation in the fantasy series.
In a recent PEPTalk episode, Tom expressed his desire to work with Carla again for a drama series.
He admitted, "Si Carla, I want to work with her again. Please, another soap. I miss us working together."
The TomCar tandem was first seen in the groundbreaking series My Husband's Lover (2013), which was followed by the romance-drama series My Destiny (2014).
Meanwhile, Andrea Torres and Mikael Daez will be paired again as onscreen partners in the sitcom Alex and Amie, which offers a combination of animation and live action.
This show revolves around Alex (Mikael) and his imaginary friend Amie, who will bring color to both his professional and personal life. Andrea plays Bing, Alex's love interest while Dominic Roco plays Patrick, Alex's rival for Bing's heart.
Andrea and Mikael were first paired in the 2012 series Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga. Their first team-up proved to be a success which is why they several other shows: With A Smile (2013), Ang Lihim ni Annasandra (2014), and the international miniseries Fight For Love (2015).
OTHER SHOWS. The game show Celebrity Bluff returns for its 13th season with Eugene Domingo as host. Joining her this time is TV host Edu Manzano. The comeback promises new and exciting segments.
GMA will also celebrate the 30th year of its News and Public Affairs department this June with the TV special titled GMA Public Affairs’ 30th Anniversary Sa Serbisyong Totoo, Nabago Ang Buhay Ko.
Heart Evangelista will be seen in two new shows this summer: Follow Your Heart and Mulawin vs. Ravena. The Kapuso actress will also be featured in a program titled My Korean Jagiya.
