The victims of A.I.D.S. in the country are getting younger as the years go by, based on a study by the Department of Health. Abner Mercado finds out why the deadly virus continues to spread among Filipinos this Tuesday (May 19) on The Correspondents.
Even before the world knew of the influenza A (H1N1) virus, many Filipinos have already been suffering from A.I.D.S. or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. The Department of Health said it's prone to spread more these days with the growing number of Filipino youth testing positive for HIV.
The youth are said to be more active and experimental just like 25 year-old Gerry, a self-proclaimed chickboy. Gerry now has to keep his illness a secret to avoid being judged by his peers and the society. He is just one of the 537 reported cases of A.I.D.S. among the youth in the country.
Join Abner Mercado as he dissects the problem of A.I.D.S. in the Philippines this Tuesday (May 19) on The Correspondents, right after Bandila on ABS-CBN.
