Sixteen days after wife Liz Almoro filed an annulment petition against him, Willie Revillame faces criminal charges in connection with the tragic stampede that claimed more than 70 lives before the scheduled anniversary last February 4 of his noontime show Wowowee at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Department of Justice has recommended on October 19 the filing of charges of reckless imprudence leading to multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries against Willie and officials of ABS-CBN, PhilSports, and Goldlink Security Services.

The case will be filed before the Pasig Regional Trial Court.

Aside from Willie, the DOJ will charge ABS-CBN executives Charo Santos-Concio, Maria Socorro Vidanes, Marilou Almaden, and Cipriano Luspo. Also charged were producers and staff of Wowowee, including Moly Stewart, Harold James Nueva, Norberto Vidanes, Rey Cayabyab, Francisco Rivera, Mel Feliciano, and Jean Owen Garcia; PhilSports officials Jess Velardo and Erlinda Reis; and Goldlink officers Rosenbar Viloria, Wilfron Onanad, and Chito Payumo.
