Basketball player James Yap missed a game this season but, in exchange, he got to welcome his son with Kris Aquino into the world.
The Purefoods shooting guard was scheduled to play at a PBA [Philippine Basketball Association] game versus Air21 last Thursday but had to beg off because his wife Kris was at Makati Medical Center delivering their baby.
Yesterday, April 19, at 4:50 p.m., James Yap, Sr. finally met his junior version.
Baby James, who was born two weeks earlier—Kris's due date is May 6—weighed 4.3 lbs. at birth.
The cager was with his wife throughout the operation, which lasted two and a half hours. He recalls the conversation that he had with his wife at that time: "Sobrang saya ako, saka kinakabahan. Pawis na pawis na nga ako e. Parang sinasabi ko before [the operation]: ‘Kinakabahan ka?' Sabi niya: ‘Hindi'. Sabi ko: ‘Ako kinakabahan.'"
He gratefully told reports that, "Pinakinggan talaga ni God yung prayer namin na maging healthy yung baby kasi sabay kaming mag-rosary. Parati kasi bed-rest si Kris so sa house lang kami nagro-rosary."
