MMFF screening committee's new ruling in accepting entries

The movie producers have the choice to show their films either on December 25 or January 1.

May pagbababago sa pagtanggap ng mga pelikula na lalahok for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Last year, bumalik sa original ruling ang MMFF screening committee kung saan ang sampung napiling ipalalabas ay sabay-sabay na nagbukas ng Kapaskuhan. Bugso ito sa reklamo ng mga producers sa isang alternative practice na ginagawa noon, kung saan hindi lahat ng official entries ay ipalalabas ng December 25 dahil ang iba, ipalalabas ng January 1.

Ang reklamo kasi ng mga producers, mahirap nang humabol ang mga nahuhuling ipalabas sa gross ng mga mas naunang maipalabas kahit na magkaroon pa ito ng awards. Nang muli namang sinubok ang ten-film simultaneous showing, nag-suffer din ang ilang pelikula kung kaya’t a third alternative is proposed this year.

Sampu (some say siyam lang) pa rin ang mapipiling pelikulang lalahok sa 2007 MMFF ngunit it will be the producers' choice—especially those na may multiple entries—kung ano ang pelikulang gusto nilang ipalabas ng December 25 at ano ang ipapalabas ng January 1.

Noong May 18 ang deadline mga pelikulang specific na gustong maipalabas sa Pasko. Sa June 18 naman ang deadline ng mga producers kung gusto pa rin nilang pumasok sa MMFF, ngunit specified na pang-January 1st showing na ito.

All movies chosen will still be considered for the awards, whether these will be shown starting December 25 or January 1.
