When the eight celebrity contestants of Celebrity Duets were introduced to the press yesterday, August 6, at the executive lounge of GMA-7, one of the contestants really stood out—both physically and figuratively.
Towering at 6'2" tall, Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr. is one of the eight celebrities from different sectors of society who will be performing with legendary OPM singers in this new reality singing contest from Fremantle Media.
During the press conference, the Filipino-Chinese doctor who is affiliated with the Belo Medical Group declared that joining this contest was his way of doing a "modern-day harana" for his loved one. "Kaya rin ako sumali sa Celebrity Duets kasi parang nanliligaw ako."
In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Hayden clarified his earlier statement. "Hindi naman [actually] panliligaw, kasi kami na, e. It's my modern-day harana to Vicki [Belo], my love, mi amor." Lest anyone think that he is going through a rough patch with the 50-year old surgeon to the stars, Hayden points out that they have been together for over two years already.
Since he seems to be wooing Dr. Vicki anew, will this lead to a marriage proposal anytime soon? "Kung darating dun sa proposal, it will come, it will come, on the right time," he says.
Hayden will dedicate all his love songs in Celebrity Duets to his lady love. He says, "The first song is titled 'That's All' and the lyrics go something like, 'They would give you the world for a toy / All I have are these arms to enfold you / And a love time can never destroy.'"
With romantic lines like these, how can anyone not fall for the 27-year old doctor?
Hayden will be competing with other famous personalities —Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2007 Ana Theresa Licaros; fashion icon, columnist and socialite Tessa Prieto Valdez; TV host, events organizer and entrepreneur Tim Yap; cosmetic surgeon Dr. Manny Calayan; entrepreneur and talent manager Jessica Rodriguez; talent manager Wyngard Tracy, and renowned fashion designer Frederick Peralta.
Hosted by Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez and composer Ogie Alcasid, Celebrity Duets premieres this Saturday, August 11, after Bitoy's Funniest Videos on GMA-7.
