Singer Sheryn Regis says that she enjoys her new job as a comedienne in Love Spell. She clarifies, however, that this does not mean that she will leave her singing career. She says, "Nag-e-enjoy pa rin naman ako sa singing kasi ang dami ko pa pong mga shows din." Photo: Noel Orsal

The Crystal Voice of Asia was so into her character as Fairy Godmother during the presscon of Love Spell Presents Cindy-Rella last night, September 8, at 9501 restaurant of ABS-CBN.

Sheryn excitedly narrated to the press her first acting experience in Love Spell.

“This is my first time acting for Love Spell, siyempre po I wished for this. Ito po, mas mahaba-haba ang acting career ko dito. Thirteen weeks, sosyal! I’m very excited, although hindi po ako naisali doon sa AVP because hindi pa po ako nakapag-shoot noon.”

The singer-turned-comedienne said that with her acting stint in Love Spell, she was able to use her “kakuwelahan,” which is one of Sheryn’s known traits. She added, “Actually, nakaka-trabaho ko si Ate Sheryl [Cruz], natutuwa naman siya sa akin.”

Sheryn also said that aside from concerts, she has long been wishing for a show where she could practice her acting skills. “It’s really very nice and it’s something na parang achievement kasi I wished for this. I told you before, I really wish for this. And now is the time that I’m going to show my talent to everybody—not only in singing but acting also.”

PLAN "B". After the presscon, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) took the chance to ask Sheryn about her reported migration to the United States.

The singer admitted that she has plans to go abroad and try her luck there, but it is not yet final.

She explained, “Wala pa namang tawag yung lawyer. Actually, gusto ko rin as plan B since we don’t know where life [leads us], you know hard it is. And ang dami na ng bagong nagsidatingan. So parang plan 'B' ko lang 'yon kung wala na akong career dito. Siguro hindi pa naman mangyayari 'yon kasi active pa naman [ang career ko].”

Sheryn said that she and her family are planning to stay either in New Jersey or California. But she reiterated, “Plan 'B' lang yun. Wala pa namang sinasabi yung lawyer. Pero it doesn’t mean na mag-i-stay ako doon for good. Pero gusto ko pa rin po mag-stay forever dito sa business—I wanna sing, I wanna act po talaga.”

Meanwhile, it seems like Sheryn’s migration to U.S. would have to wait as she is currently enjoying her newfound job as a comedienne. She said, “Ngayon nag-e-enjoy ako sa acting. Gustung-gusto ko. I have so much fun. Kakaiba yung naghihintay ka sa set, maging closer ka sa ibang cast, yung ganun. Makikita mo kung paano talaga ang artista magtrabaho kasi sa isang singer [kakanta] lang tapos na.”

And if there's something she learned from this experience, it definitely had to be patience.

“Patience is really important sa isang artista and certain discipline sa sarili, kailangan ready ka always. Then, attitude mo towards co-artist and attitude mo towards the staff. Hindi ka puwedeng sumimangot kasi everybody is working for you," Sheryn said.
