StarStruck 1 Avenger Dion Ignacio turned down the gay role in Daybreak to accept Manay Po 2 role as an object of gay fantasy.
Now it can be told na kay Dion pala unang in-offer ang papel na baklang lover ng bangkerong si Coco Martin sa Daybreak, ang first gay-themed indie movie ni Adolf B. Alix Jr. na siya ring nagdirek ng mga internationally acclaimed digital movies na Donsol, Kadin, at Tambolista.
Parehong miyembro ng Studs ng GMA Artist Center sina Coco at Dion. Initially, the StarStruck Avenger accepted the offer in principle, sabi ng source namin na part of the production of Daybreak. Part na rin daw kasi ito ng maturity ni Dion as an actor and a first for him to play a gay role and do an independent feature.
Nang magsisimula na ang production, biglang tumanggi si Dion dahil may natanguan pala ang GMA Artist Center na isang pelikula sa Regal Entertainment. Bagama't nauna ngang mag-offer ang Daybreak at natanguan na ito ni Dion, okay lang sa production dahil mainstream movie naman pala ang ipapalit ni Dion dito, so bigger break pa rin.
Pinalitan si Dino ni Paolo Rivero, na unang na-introduce noon sa Live Show ng Regal na inilaban sa Berlin Film Festival.
Ang naging kapalit ng Daybreak ni Dion ay ang Manay Po 2, kung saan lalabas siya bilang P.E./swimming instructor ni Jiro Manio na magkaka-crush sa kanya. This is directed by Joel Lamangan.
Daybreak will have a two-night showing sa UP Film Center on February 13 and 14 and will open exclusively at Robinson's Galeria from February 20 to 26, at Robinson's Ermita from February 27 to March 4, and at Robinson's Bacolod on March 5 to 11.
Sa March 22 naman magbubukas ang Manay Po 2.
