Young actress Cristine Reyes's wish to be free from GMA-7 has been granted as the Kapuso network dropped her from their roster of talents.

Finally and officially, Cristine Reyes is out of GMA-7.

Two Wednesday nights ago, March 26, during the send-off for Dennis Trillo and the contract signing of Dingdong Dantes sa opisina ng GMA Films sa GMA Network Center, napag-usapan ng mga invited press and the top brass of GMA Films na sina Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, Joey Abacan, and Noel Ferrer ang kaso ng nakababatang kapatid ni Ara Mina.

One of the original StarStruck Avengers, it has been a long-drawn battle between the respective lawyers of GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) and Cristine patungkol sa kontrata nito. Nang matapos ang unang StarStruck, all the Avengers were given a two-year contract while the Final Four got a three-year contract, with the first option to renew on Artist Center's side.

Natapos ang unang contract ni Cristine noong 2005, so the option was used for another two years until 2007. Dito nagkakatalo dahil according to Cristine's camp, the option was already used. According to GMAAC, the second contract has an option clause that they intend to use.

Sa original batch ng StarStruck, anim ang unang umangat—ang Final Four na sina Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, Yasmien Kurdi, at Rainier Castillo; pati na rin ang dalawang female Avengers na sina Nadine Samonte, na nabigyan agad ng break through TAPE's two afternoon soaps, at Katrina Halili, who decided to go the sexy and villain routes.

One of those lang si Cristine noon, lalo na't nagsidatingan na rin ang tatlo pang batches of StarStruck. Late last year, Cristine followed the path successfully used by Katrina; tumanggap siya ng villain role sa Super Twins kung saan una niyang nakasama ang sinasabing boyfriend na si Dennis Trillo at, finally, tinanggap na rin niya ang offer ng FHM to be a cover girl.

Suddenly, offers came from movies to endorsements. A Chinese producer gave Cristine her biggest break in the big screen via a launching movie titled Green Paradise directed by Hong Kong TV director Kant Leung. Nagkaroon na rin siya ng billboard, first for Cathy Valencia Skin and Cosmetic with sister Ara. Other endorsements followed, including a women's footwear brand, and she will also be seen next as one of Vicky Belo's endorsers.

THE FIRST SIGNS.

During the first and only presscon of Cristine's launching movie Green Paradise, hindi sumipot ang young actress, although a letter supposedly from her was read to the press saying that she has decided to stop acting.

Nasa ABS-CBN pala siya that time with her sister Ara, kung saan officially ay nagkakilala sina Cristine at Willy.

Cristine's decision changed again. Magpapatuloy na raw siya ulit ng pag-aartista and an announcement was made, pasok siya sa Joaquin Bordado bilang leading man ni Mark Herras at ka-triangle ni Jennylyn Mercado.

Tumanggi si Jennylyn sa role dahil baka lumiit ang role niya, so it was given to Ryza Cenon. Then, tumanggi na rin si Cristine dahil ayaw niya raw ng sexy role, so the role was given to Iwa Moto.

During that same week, nagpaalam si Cristine sa GMAAC na isasama siya ng kanyang sister sa Guam to do a special episode of Wowowee.

CRISTINE WANTS TO BE A KAPAMILYA.

It has been reported that Cristine will be the lead star of an upcoming afternoon soap ng ABS-CBN, ang remake ng Eva Fonda, 16 ni Alma Moreno. Ironically, ang magiging role ni Cristine dito ay isang dancer, the same type of role na tinanggihan niya sa Joaquin Bordado.

Cristine, by this time, is insisting na rin about her contract with GMA-7 na tapos na, so she can move to ABS-CBN.

Hindi lang support, Cristine will now play the triangle to Katrina and Dennis, her reported beau. Palalakihin ang original role ni Pinky Amador in the Viva Films movie just for her. She turned it down and the role went to Iwa again.

Back to the Wednesday talkies with the GMA Films honchos, Ms. Annette was quite firm about GMA's stand on this: they will enforce the contract whether Cristine likes it or not.

Cristine is steadfast on her stand. Last Monday, kahit nag-uusap pa ang mga lawyers about the contract, nagpakita na naman si Cristine sa Wowowee—although not as co-host but as one of the audience—defying GMAAC's order na hindi siya puwedeng magpakita on camera ang kahit na sinong talent nila sa ABS-CBN shows.

This could have been the last straw for GMA-7 dahil naglabas na ng official announcement ang Kapuso Network through Corporate Communication. It reads in full:

"GMA has decided to drop Cristine Reyes from its roster of talents because of her attitude and behavior. She is welcome to leave. The Network has a lot more serious artists to assign important projects to and develop into fine, professional actors. That being said, GMA Network has now closed its doors on Cristine."
