European countries ngayon ang favorite out-of-the-country locations ng mga big-budget local movies.
May ilan na rin namang local movies na nag-shoot sa Europe. Way back in the ‘70s, two big movies featured European location: Europe Here We Come ng pamilya nina Ms. Amalia Fuentes, Romeo Vasquez, and Liezl at ang isang film festival entry noon ni Dolphy opposite Ms. Pilar Pilapil, ang El Pinoy Matador na ginawa sa Spain.
In the ‘80s, Vilma Santos's Miss X was shot entirely in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The movie Miracle of Love nina Gabby Concepcion and the late Roxanne Abad Santos shot several sequences in Lourdes, France and in Venice, Italy.
Then there's Milan of Star Cinema starring Claudine Barretto and Piolo Pascual; Barcelona ni Alessandra de Rossi; at ang Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo nina Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo na may sequences sa Spain.
This year though is the one single year in Philippine movies with the most number of local movies with Europe location ang nakatakdang gawin—tatlo.
Post-production na ang GMA Films for its second movie for this year after My Best Friend's Girlfriend, ang comedy-romance movie na I.T.A.L.Y. (I Trust And Love You). Starring Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo, Mark Herras, Eugene Domingo, Rhian Ramos, and Rufa Mae Quinto from the direction of Mark Reyes. Shot in several European cities including one in Africa, for July release na ito.
Sa May 28 naman ang start ng shooting ng unang pelikulang pagsasamahan nina Richard Gutierrez at KC Concepcion for Star Cinema, ang may working title na For the First Time. May cute double meaning ang title ng pelikula dahil ang Star Cinema nga ang unang magre-release ng kambal na Richard-KC movie sa direction ni Joyce Bernal.
Manila shoot ang uunahin ng Star Cinema at by June pa sila lilipad patungong Athens, Greece to do key sequences. August 27 ang playdate ng pelikula.
Pinagpaplanuhan na rin ng GMA Films ang kanilang Richard-KC movie, na may titulong When I Met You, na magkaroon din ng out-of-the-country shoot at sa Europe din—sa France. This is written and directed by Joey Reyes.
May special place in her heart ang France—particularly Paris—para kay KC dahil bukod sa dito siya nag-aral, dito rin niya pinagtirik ng kandila sa isang church sa Madeleine para matuloy ang kanilang tambalan ni Richard for GMA Films, na siya ngang nangyari.
February 11, 2009 naman ang release ng pelikula.
