Ang pagtanggap finally ng young actor na si Jericho Rosales ng SAG (Screen Actors Guild) membership card from Hollywood ay magsisilbing pasaporte niya para palakasin ang kanyang international acting career. Ang balak nga ni Echo, ang palayaw ni Jericho, ay samantalahin ang paghawak nito nang sa gayo'y makapag-audition siya for some meaty parts in Hollywood productions.
"Hindi lang 'yan, marami pa akong gustong gawin," sabi ni Echo sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "I think, mas maganda nga ang takbo ng lahat sa ngayon, and I will never go wrong. Nakakasulat uli ako ng mga bagong kanta. Para na yun sa susunod na album.
"I am very happy because after the hard times, bumalik ako rito sa ABS-CBN na mayroon silang magagandang plano for me. Bumisita nga uli ako sa Talent Center. I did the rounds in some radio stations, and I'm so overwhelmed to know na hindi nagbabago ang suporta nila sa akin. Hindi ko ini-expect na naroroon pa rin ang suporta ng mga executive ng Kapamilya Network sa akin. I feel so loved."
Sa hirap man o sa ginhawa, Echo owes a lot to the public, na hanggang ngayon, sumusuporta sa kanya.
"Wala naman akong masasabi kung hindi yung maging thankful na lang sa patuloy nilang pagtanggap, at ayokong mabigo sila sa mga inaasahan nila sa akin ngayon. Sa bandang huli, palagay ko, may mangandang bagay na naghihintay sa akin.
"Expect a new Jericho, new projects, and there are a lot of things which I still want to share with you. Be it music, acting, directing, or whatever it is. For sure, all you people will be a part of it. Kasama na lahat kayo sa considerations ko. Salamat," pahayag ng young actor-singer.
TALES FROM MALAYSIA. First week of April, bumalik na si Jericho sa Malaysia para sa commitment niya roon for a teleserye. Ratsada raw agad sila ng taping doon. Ang unang location daw ay sa may Camaron Islands, four hours travel daw from Kuala Lumpur.
"Tea plantations yun bale, and very beautiful!" sambit ni Echo. "First time ko ngang nakakita ng tea plant, and my gosh, gabundok na tea plants talaga, as in files, wonderfully planted. Ang ganda talaga!
"Masaya working with Malaysian actors, kasi parang mga Pinoy rin. Asians din, pero iba yung food nila, yung culture. May language barrier noong una, kaya mahirap. For a while, marami sa mga kasama namin, sumasakit na ang leeg nila dahil hindi nga magkaintindihan. Just have to adjust, lalo na sa food, laging spicy kasi," kuwento niya.
Ang leading lady niya rito ay si Carmen Soo, whom he describes as very professional. Half-Chinese daw ito, half-Malaysian, half-something else.
"British colony nga raw sila kaya may halo na rin siyang British," sabi ni Echo. "Two months kami sa Malaysia at dire-deretso ang trabaho. Twelve to sixteen hours of shoot kami everyday, pero tuloy-tuloy.
"Comfortable ako sa ganoon. Working in a different country, na nandodoon lang ako, just to work. Walang distractions. I love the working hours, nakakapag-concentrate talaga ako. Strict sila sa working hours. At a certain time, kailangang tapusin na. Minsan lang talaga nangyayari yung kailangang mag-extend. But most of the time, we stick with the schedule.
"Yung mga artista dasi roon, may Malaysian names sila, may English names. Like Carmen Soo, parang si Zhang Ziyi, kapag sa English, Ziyi Zhang siya. Baligtad. Medyo complicated. Yung isang co-actor ko doon, Ahwal ang name niya na alam ko. Depende kasi yung surname nila kung Muslim sila, or Chinese. There's also Louisa Chong, who's Chinese.
"Marami pa sila, but I can't remember the names talaga. Sa Pinoy co-actors, kasama ko sina Christopher de Leon, Albert Martinez, and Empoy, who plays my sidekick. Pareho kaming pulis," lahad ni Jericho.
HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION. Nag-audition naman si Jericho noon for I Love U Bug na isang Hollywood production by a Fil-Am filmmaker, si Francis dela Torre. Lucky enough si Echo na matanggap dito.
"Dito lang naman ang shooting sa Manila. But we still have to shoot the remaining scenes in San Francisco. I got the chance to work with Dean Cain, Dante Basco, and Briana Evigan. All have worked in Hollywood movies.
"Kami pa ni Heart [Evangelista] noon, and it was her birthday when I went to the audition. I was with Heart also when I learned that I passed the auditions. Nauna ko pang malaman from someone from the production, who I met again in Rockwell, when we went to see a movie, kami ni Heart.
"Napalundag talaga ako sa mall sa sobrang tuwa when I learned about it. So this opportunity opened the doors for me, and I was given nga my SAG card for having worked with an American production," saad ni Jericho.
