Natiyempuhan ng Startalk ang businessman at live-in partner ni Gretchen Barretto na si Tonyboy Cojuangco sa opening ng Cinemalaya Film Festival sa Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) noong Friday night, July 11.
Ayon sa billionaire businessman, mula pa noon ay supporter na siya ng mga independent film.
"I don't want to act in front of the camera but I'm interested in the arts and I support the arts," sabi niya. "I've been supporting Cinemalaya from the beginning. The first year that we launched it, it was the time that the movie industry was not doing too well and we felt we needed more movies to come up and the normal producers are not producing movies because they are not doing too well versus the foreign films.
"But now that we have open floodgates for the alternative directors, the young ones, people have suddenly decided that local films can compete with the foreign films. In fact, we have won awards."
Sinamantala na rin ng Startalk ang pagkakaton upang sagutin ni Tonyboy ang ilang mga intriga na kinasasangkutan niya. Isa na nga rito ang pagkaka-link niya sa isa sa pinakasikat na female star ng GMA-7 na si Marian Rivera.
"You know, I am always linked to other people. You know, we just ignore it because that's the way the entertainment industry is and that's how we get used to it."
Katulad dati, basta rin lang sa private life ng isa sa pinakamayamang businessman sa Pilipinas ang pinag-uusapan, matipid pa rin ito sa pagsasalita. Pero nilinaw niya na he and Gretchen are okay.
"We're okay. I'd rather keep my personal life away from the public or from the press. I just ignore everything. That's part of life. I'm okay and I've always been okay," maikling pahayag ni Tonyboy, who still undergoes treatment for his throat every two months.
