To put a stop to the "every-quarter" breakup rumor of couple Pops Fernandez and Jomari Yllana, the Concert Queen settled the real score: They are still together.
Every time reports speculate on her three-year relationship with the actor, Pops just laughs things off. "It's either that or ikakasal kami," she told the press people yesterday, October 6, at Teatrino, during the presscon of Pops's upcoming concert, Divas for Divas with Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Regine Velasquez.
"Chika Minute" reporter Lhar Santiago asked—which is more stressful, the split or wedding rumors?
"Either way, parang nai-stress ako, di ba? Masyadong stressful. I think we're just being...Ako ha, I'll say for myself, I really just wanna enjoy life right now."
And she stressed that she's very happy.
But how come the split rumors have become more recurring this year?
Two months ago, the hush-hush was even put out in PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and in other publications.
Her beau told PEP at the time, "For the record, we're still together. Wala kaming problema, at siyempre, walang ibang chicks."
The most recent was early to mid-September.
"I think the reason why that whole breakup thing
started again, and I'm gonna be very honest kasi hindi pa naman ako
nagpapa-interview after..." Pops began.
"We never fight kasi. Never...Hindi pa kami ever-ever nag-aaway. And there was one time na, and that was during the time na lumabas nga yun, I think it was all over the press, na medyo meron kaming, for the first time, meron kaming di pagkakaintindihan."
The press asked about the reason, and she quickly said, "Secret na yun."
She continued, "It wasn't bad, but because it's the very first time, hindi talaga...meron kaming hindi napagka...Hindi lang siguro kami nakapag-communicate well and I think that's the reason."
The usually media-shy performer admitted that the four-day LQ, or lovers' quarrel, almost led to a breakup. She said, "First time na medyo nagkalabuan kami."
Then she added, "Kasi nga siguro, hindi kami ever pa nagkakaroon ng misunderstanding."
And if there's one thing she learned from their first major LQ, she related while laughing, "Ang na-realize ko, it's really exciting when you make up pala. Now that I know, I'm gonna keep doing it all the time."
But on a serious note: " It's really not a matter of giving in...I also realized siguro na hindi ko siya nabigyan ng chance to explain himself. So when we talked, ah, malumanay na. Kumbaga, hindi na ako kasing affected, hindi na rin siya kasing affected, so we we're really able to be very honest with each other."
And after she and Jomari talked, "there's a lot of dating" that happened.
So there, let the split rumors be put to rest.
