Comedian Jon Santos, who is open about his being gay, announced recently that he has found his partner for life and has made their partnership binding. (Has he gotten married? Know the answer HERE).
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able talk to Jon yesterday, October 23, in Quezon City after he announced that he will now be managed by ALV Talent Circuit, which also handles the careers of Pops Fernandez, Billy Crawford, Jay-R, Iya Villania and many others.
Jon admitted to meeting the love of his life through friends. "That was the time na married [ako] to my work... lahat ng pinagkakaabalahan ko work-related, andun yung cooking show [Sarap TV], merong comedy club, live shows, ‘tsaka di ka naman nakapako sa Pilipinas dahil may tours sa other cities... [So] feeling mo lahat ng ibang bagay secondary."
"Isang nalaman ko nang maaga, hindi niya alam yung aking work. Hindi rin siya nakakapanood ng shows ko... Nag-Google [lang] siya pagkatapos [ng meeting namin]." (Click HERE for more on his love story.)
Jon, who was away from the limelight for two years, will soon be seen in Judy Ann Santos's soap opera, Humingi Ako Sa Langit and for ten weekend nights at the Music Museum starting November 7 to December 6 in the comedy series, Da Spooftacular Showdown.
"Fortunately, I'm not in the modeling world, I can age," Jon quipped, acknowledging the fact that there are new and younger comedians in the industry. "Ang maganda naman sa mundo ng comedy, there's always a place for you...kalbo ka, you gain weight, tumaba ka, okay lang."
"I can lose my high school hips and still find work," he joked.
Now happy with his partner for life, the comedic genius—who has created impersonations of Cory Aquino, Miriam Santiago, Fidel Ramos, Joseph Estrada, Juan Flavier, Kris Aquino, his personal favorite Vilma Santos and many others—looks forward to a busier 2009.
His dream?
"To be impersonated," he said, tongue-in-cheek.
