Actress Assunta de Rossi maintains that her marriage with husband Jules Ledesma is not curtailing her own personal growth. "Wala namang nagbabawal, e. Ako ang gumagawa ng sarili kong schedule. Buhay ko ‘to, may sarili din siyang buhay, walang pakialamanan," says the Fil-Italian statuesque actress.

Filipino-Italian actress Assunta de Rossi is obviously getting tired of answering questions pertaining to the status of her six-year marriage with Negros Occidental 1st District Representative Jules Ledesma.

The matter was brought up anew after a blind item came out recently pointing to the separation of an actress and her rich husband. Many surmised that it was Assunta and Jules. The couple in question, however, turned out to be Beth Tamayo and Johnny Wong.

"You know what, the next time na makarinig kayo ng ganun, huwag n'yo na lang po patulan. Kasi ‘yon pa din naman ang isasagot ko, e, baka mainis lang kayo sa akin," Assunta said to the entertainment writers at the press conference of Q11's upcoming snack comedy show Ü Women held at the Dulcinea restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

"We're still together," stressed Assunta. "Kasi-celebrate lang namin nung December ng 6th anniversary namin. We were in Negros kasi nag-blessing ang ethanol plant namin because doon ginawa ‘yong first ethanol plant in the Philippines, in our land.

"So ‘pag natapos na, ‘pag okay na nag-umpisa na ‘yon, the president goes there, wala na, hindi na kami gagawa ng asukal, gasolina na. So, we were there and nataon na sumabay sa wedding anniversary namin, tapos nagpa-party kami for the people who worked sa ethanol [plant], tapos pina-bless namin."

WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME. Assunta's marriage is not immune to the common problems encountered by any normal couple. Six years of togetherness still requires both parties to adjust and exert effort to make the union work.

"Wala namang relationship na perfect, e. You know, kumpara sa kasal ng mommy at daddy ko, they've been married for 25 years...26 years na pala. And she always tells me, ‘Naku anak, kami nga ng tatay mo na 25 years na kaming kasal, ngayon nag-aaway pa din kami.' So, compare ko ‘yong marriage ko sa marriage niya, baby pa ‘to, e," explained Assunta.

She added, "So, marami pang growing na kailangang gawin. Marami pa kaming kakainin na bigas Pero ang importante, we have the same commitment saka hindi naman ako answerable sa tao, e. Whatever happens, I'm answerable to the one I made a promise to. So kahit ano pa siya, kahit maraming dumaan na bagyo, wala ako kailangang i-explain sa tao kasi hindi naman sa kanila ako nag-promise siguro."

Many are still waiting for the day when Assunta would announce her entry into motherhood. But since the reality of bearing a child is still yet to come, the couple would rather wait for the right time.

"If it happens, it happens," Assunta reasoned out. "There's a reason for everything."

She added, "I leave it up to God na lang. Basta ‘yon ang pinaplano namin. Sana this year ‘pag natapos na lahat ng obligations niya sa clan niya and everything goes well, sana maka-start kami ng panibagong chapter ng buhay namin sa bago naming tahanan."
