"Hurting but healing."

This was how the Concert Queen Pops Fernandez described her current status in an interview with entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, which was published in his "Funfare" column in Philippine Star today, March 5.

Two days after Jomari Yllana confirmed their breakup, Pops said: "Sa totoo lang, I was shocked."

It would be recalled that in a phone interview with PEP contributor Rey Pumaloy, Jomari admitted that it has been two weeks since he and Pops mutually decided to go on separate ways. (Click here to read related article.)

But Pops kept mum about this "mutual decision" when she was asked by Ricky. Like Jomari, she also doesn't know the possible cause of their breakup.

"I didn't expect it, I didn't see it coming," stated Pops. "Maybe it was due to pressures before, during, and after the concert. I don't know. I am clueless." (The concert Pops was referring to was Missing You, her reunion concert with ex-husband Martin Nievera.)

On the other hand, Jomari already clarified that the reunion concert of Pops and Martin, which was held last February 6 at the Araneta Coliseum, had nothing to do with their breakup.

"Hindi naging issue o problema sa amin yung reunion concert. Masaya kami pareho sa outcome no'n. In fact, breaking all the records sa local [concert scene] yung Missing You, and we're happy about it. Walang immediate na plano para sa repeat, kasi nga na-break mo na yung record, e. Parang hindi maganda kung magre-repeat pa," he told PEP. 

Despite the sad ending of their nearly three-year romance, Pops still managed to show courage in coping with the breakup.

"I can manage, I can take care of myself. I was shocked for only a few days. Yes, as I've said, I'm still hurting but I am healing," said Pops.
