Isang MacBook laptop mula sa kanyang yumaong amang si Francis Magalona ang most cherished possession ngayon ni Maxene Magalona.
"Ibinigay niya three months ago, may sakit na siya, yung bagong MacBook. Ganito yung story niyan, ever since, lahat sila [her family], nag-convert na sila sa Mac, ako PC pa rin ako. Tapos may joke kami kasi yung dad ko, lagi niya kong pinipilit, 'Mag-Mac ka na.' Sabi ko, 'Ayoko, ang pangit ng Mac.' Pero siya, sobrang love na love niya ang Mac. Sabi ko, 'Bakit mahal na mahal mo 'yan, ang pangit-pangit naman niyan?' E, nag-crash yung computer ko, nagka-virus! Karma ko talaga!" natatawang kuwento ni Maxene sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
Patuloy niya, "Kakalabas lang ng dad ko sa hospital, tapos nung kinuwento ko sa kanya na namatay yung computer ko, binilhan niya ako that very same day. Iika-ika pa siya kasi hindi na siya makagalaw. Hindi ko alam kung magkano, more or less mga 70K. It's not the value, it's not the money, it's the effort na at that very same day niya ako ibinili.
"Ganun niya ako kagusto mag-Mac kasi ganun niya kamahal ang Mac. Sabi niya, 'Naku Max, kapag nag-Mac ka, magiging maayos ang buhay mo!' Mahal na mahal niya ang Mac. Sabi pa niya, 'Ang pangalan mo Max, pero hindi ka naka-Mac!'"
Galing daw sa hospital noon si Francis nang bilhin niya ang naturang laptop para kay Maxene.
"Binili niya, tapos nag-record na siya. Kasi everytime na lumalabas siya ng hospital, record siya agad. Pag-alis niya, ako yung nag-pick up sa mall kung saan niya binili [yung Mac]. He just paid for it there, then I was the one who picked it up. Hanggang ngayon, it's still with me.
"And sabi ko talaga... I vowed na never kong papalitan yung laptop ko. Forever na yun sa akin," nakangiting pag-alala pa ni Maxene.
THE CAMERAS. Napag-usapan din namin ni Maxene ang koleksiyon ni Francis ng mga kamera, Francis being a photography buff noong nabubuhay pa ito.
Kanino naiwan ang mga kamera ni Francis?
"Sa mga kapatid kong lalaki," sagot ni Maxene. "Binigyan niya ako nung isa niyang camera, which I gave to my ate [Unna]. Kasi ako, bumili ako ng isang camera na SLR din, yung mababang kind lang 'cause he always wanted me to take up photography, pero hindi ako confident.
"Pero feeling ko, ngayon that he's gone, sige, 'eto yung gagawin ko para sa kanya na ipagpapatuloy ko. Natuto ako ng photography. So lahat ng mga kapatid ko na lalaki, binigyan sila ng camera. And then yung isa niyang camera na last niyang binili, na pinakamamahal niya, hindi namin yun ibinigay kahit kanino.
"Nandun lang yun sa bahay and if any of us wants to use that, puwede naming gamitin. Pero hindi yun mapupunta sa isang tao lang. Walang may magmamay-ari kasi feeling namin, kay Papa lang yun."
Sa ngayon, patuloy ang ikot ng mundo kay Maxene. One perfect therapy for Maxene is acting again in front of the cameras via GMA-7's SRO Cinemaserye Presents Ganti, which will premiere tonight, March 26.
