Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon (left) did not pass the chance to criticize TV host Willie Revillame for the latter's recent outburst in his noontime show Wowowee last August 3. In a poem published yesterday in his column in a local broadsheet, the veteran comedian called Willie "stupid, disrespectful, and unprofessional."

The two hosts had become strong enemies after a highly-publicized exchange of words during the height of the Wowowee "cheating scandal" two years ago.

Kapamilya TV host Willie Revillame is currently under heavy fire due to remarks he made in his noontime show Wowowee during the transfer of former President Cory Aquino's remains from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila last August 3. An online petition to ban Willie from television, for instance, now has collected a total of 33,215 signatures. The controversial host has taken a leave from Wowowee since last Saturday, August 8.

In an exclusive interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) yesterday by editor in chief Jo-ann Q. Maglipon,  Johnny Manahan, head of Star Magic and director of Wowowee, defended Willie. He said all the noontime host wanted to do was to remove the video clips of Cory's transfer off the air, because airing the news footage alongside Wowowee was "disrespectful" towards the Aquinos. "We would be disrespecting the departed President and her family. This is what he meant to say. Unfortunately, Willie, in his disappointment, did not choose his words too well. Instead of saying, 'Nagluluksa sila doon, nagkakasayahan kami dito! Maganda ba 'yon? Parang binabastos namin yung mga nagluluksa. Please tanggalin ninyo na lang kami. Kaya ituloy ninyo na lang ang coverage ng luksa. But do not do both at mababastos ang mga nagluluksa," Mr. M said.

The Wowowee director added that the unfortunate choice of words also gave Willie's "professional enemies and detractors" the chance to "disparage and attack" the host. He believes, however, that these foes would not win.

"His enemies could not be happier stoking the heat and fires on the airwaves. Willie may seem arrogant and insensitive sometimes—but not this time. His enemies will have to wait for another time," he said.

JOEY DE LEON. In a recent development, however, Eat Bulaga! host Joey de Leon, one of Willie's most outspoken "professional enemies and detractors," did not pass up the chance to hit the Wowowee host.

In his column in The Philippine STAR published yesterday, August 9, the veteran comedian-TV host presented a poem he composed that pictured Willie's "arrogance, stupidity, and unprofessionalism."

Titled "The funeral cortege of former Pres. Cory Aquino: My tears came naturally," a part of the Filipino poem read: "Ang sabi ng iba—istupidong mayabang/At giit ng iba—istupidong mayaman/Mayaman man o mayabang ang tiyak diyan/Napakayaman n'ya sa kaistupiduhan."

Joey's poem also recalled Wowowee's "cheating scandal" two years ago, the height of the two hosts' highly-publicized argument. Joey and Willie had been natural opponents because their shows, Eat Bulaga! and Wowowee, compete for viewers on the same timeslot. The scandal, however, further escalated the tension. The poem read: "Tapos ng angalan, sunod paliwanagan/COMPLAIN before you EXPLAIN ka na naman!/O ito kaya ay isa na namang 'glitch' lang/Tulad ng 'two-zero' 'di na natin nalaman."

Here is the complete poem:

The funeral cortege of former Pres. Cory Aquino: My tears came naturally

Dahil kanilang himpilan naibalik mo.
