In a previous interview, Kris Aquino said she and James had already visited Manaoag Shrine in Pangasinan: "Kami ni James, three months pa lang, we went to Manaoag, and nung time na yun, in my mind, nakita ko, 'Ay, if I'm gonna get married in church, gusto ko dito ikakasal.' But then you have to wait for the babang luksa, which is one year [from the time of death]."

Almost three weeks after announcing her plan to get married at the Manaoag Shrine in Pangasinan, and to clear the buzz about the church wedding, Kris Aquino now has a date for the big day with James Yap.

The host-actress-endorser reveals to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), via a text message sent to the site's editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon, that she is currently eyeing "October 11" of next year.

In her text message, Kris related: "I just mentioned it to Archbishop Soc Villegas when I went to Bataan with James for Mom's 40th. He will now take care of Pangasinan and since I'm a Marian devotee, I want to have him celebrate our union in Manaoag. Because Mom wanted us to have Church rites, but after August 1, 2010 pa. Maybe Oct 11, like lolo Pepe and lola Ma and also my Mom & Dad."

The date is significant for Kris because it happens to be the wedding date of four important people in her life. Her maternal grandparents—Don Jose "Pepe" Cojuangco, former Assemblyman of Tarlac, and Doña Demetria Sumulong, daughter of former Senator Juan Marquez Sumulong; and her own parents—Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, former senator and recognized as a martyr for democracy, and Corazon Cojuangco Aquino, former President, who got married on October 11, 1954.

She also considers October the right month because it comes after the "babang-luksa" period for the death of her mom Cory. Cory Aquino died on August 1, 2009, after an almost two-year battle with colon cancer, and was laid to rest on August 5, following a funeral march that lasted eight hours. She was buried at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque, beside the tomb of her husband Ninoy, whose own funeral march was attended by millions and reached 12 hours.

Ninoy was assassinated on August 21, 1983, by soldiers believed to have been given government orders to do so, and buried on August 31, 1983. Three years later, his wife Cory ascended to the presidency on the strength of People Power, or EDSA 1.

Kris is Cory and Ninoy's youngest child. In a television interview last September 11, Kris recalled one of the last conversations she had with the late President. She said she had asked her mom this question before: "What do you want for me and James?" And at that time, the very weak Cory distinctly said the word: "Church."

But the issue of her wedding, Kris tells Jo-Ann, "hasn't been in our radar because so involved in ABS Sagid Kapamilya." That is, if the buzz on it were not persistent, she wouldn't even comment on it. Presently, Kris Aquino is playing a very active role in the ABS-CBN donation drive. As she sent her text message to Jo-Ann, she was on her way to Marikina, one of the areas badly hit by typhoon Ondoy.
