Last January, the breakup of Jolina Magdangal with her long-time boyfriend Bebong Muñoz caused a stir in showbiz circles. The two had been together for eight years when they decided to end their relationship.
Months later, the actress has moved on with her life in the arms of her new boyfriend Mark Escueta. Currently the drummer for the Pinoy band Rivermaya, Mark has been spotted recently in various showbiz events with Jolina. The most recent was at Perry Lansigan's birthday party last October 12. In an interview with Jolina aired during the November 2 episode of SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon), the actress admitted that she is in a relationship with Mark Escueta.
With a twinkle in her eye and lilt in her voice, it's clear that Jolina is happy about Mark being a part of her life. "Kasama namin siya nagdi-dinner, lumalabas... In-invite siya pag merong family gathering."
Is her new boyfriend accepted by her family?
"Hindi puwede sa 'kin manggaling, 'ay oo boto sila'. Pero sa nakikita ko sa pagtanggap nila sa kanya...oo, kasi nakikita nila yung respeto na binibigay sa kanila and I think lahat ng magulang yun lang hinahanap... kumbaga sa partner ng anak nila..."
When did they start being a couple?
"Basta ramdam mo yun...'ay, may connection tayo' or 'ay, love na ito.' Hindi ako [nag-keep track], 'Anong araw ito? Anong anniversary natin?' Walang ganun...parang nangyari na lang kusa...parang, alam mo yun, destiny."
Does this mean that Jolina and Mark have plans of getting married soon?
"Ang aga naman masyado pero, alam mo yun? Hindi naman ako nagko- close ng door or sa mga ganyan... or hindi ko naman pinapatay malisya dahil hindi naman tayo masyado nagpapa-sweet, pero yung time ko, darating 'yan...hindi lang ako nagmamadali."
