Almost two months after she left TV soap Tinik Sa Dibdib in the middle of production, speculations have been rife as to why. "Because I got sick. I couldn't handle the schedules for the taping. Na-overfatigue ako. I just had to rest. Kung gamit nga nawawalan ng baterya, tao pa kaya?" was the actress' succinct explanation. Sa katunayan, kadi-dinner lang niya sa bahay ng network President at CEO na si Attorney Felipe Gozon. "Small get-together rin with other artists. Sinabi sa akin ni Ms. Annette [Gozon-Abrogar, GMA Films president] na ni-moved nila ang start ng shooting ng dapat na pelikulang gagawin ko...
"Soap, wala pa... hindi ko pa alam. Hindi pa ako nakatanong. Kasi, ang nakaplano naman talaga after ng Tinik Sa Dibdib is a movie. So we're pushing on a movie this January."
Kung magkataon ay sasabay ito sa balak ng artistang ipagpatuloy ang kanyang culinary studies. Dapat sana ay sa Nobyembre, "kaso lang, naka-start na ang curriculum. Puwede pa nila [culinary school] akong tanggapin by January or February na lang."
Self-confessed workaholic ang artista, at parang pinapatunayan na naman niya ito. Ito raw ang rason kung bakit napagod siya.
"Gusto ko sinasabay-sabay ko lahat. [I was] doing All About Eve. Right after All About Eve, I did Unang Hirit. After Unang Hirit, nag-taping na ako for Tinik Sa Dibdib. Ayaw ko pang pumayag na hindi ako mag-Unang Hirit. Gusto ko pa rin mag-every day sa Unang Hirit, tapos mag-taping pa."
Kaya nang mapagod siya ay nag-lie low siya, at di daw dahil, tulad ng sinasabi ng iba, na "pasaway" siya bilang Kapuso.
"Ewan ko po... it's just a matter of opinion. And as long as I know what is true, I'm fine with that, di ba? People are free to say whatever they wish to say kasi, opinion nila yun, e."
ADVICE FROM ABOVE. Kaya pinayuhan siya ng mga GMA-7 executives na mag-pacing. "Sabi rin nga ni Ms. Lilybeth [Rasonable, GMA-7 assistant vice president for drama] noong dinner, sabi niya, baka it's better raw for me na every one project, dapat mag-rest ako nang konti."
Nanghinayang man siya sa mga nawalang projects sa kanya, lalo ang Tinik, "but I don't know what's God's plan to me. Hindi mo naman masasabi kung kailan ka magkakasakit. Sayang kung sayang pero baka it's not meant to be. With regards to StarStruck, I was the one who really turned it down because I know I need to rest."
Ang pumalit sa kanya sa StarStruck ay si Iza Calzado, na balitang nagkaroon noon ng di pagkakaunawaan sa kanya.
"Whoever my replacement is, I really don't mind. From the very beginning naman when they we're asking me to do the pictorial and all that, sinabi ko naman talaga kay Ma'am Wilma [Galvante, GMA senior vice president for entertainment] that 'Ma'am, I'm not ready at the moment.'
"I need to rest pa. So, okey naman sa kanila. Siyempre, nanghinayang sila because they really wanted me to be [in] the council for StarStruck."
Ngayon ba, masasabi niyang handing-handa na siyang bumalik sa trabaho?
"As of the moment, relax-relax muna. But for sure, next year, there will be a movie. And other plans. We're cooking up something."
