The legal battle surrounding the future of Rivermaya does nothing to affect Jolina Magdangal's relationship with drummer Mark Escueta.
In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last November 26 at the launching of Perry Lansigan's management and PR firm held in Quezon City, Jolina said that Mark's dilemma has only strengthened their bond as a couple instead of putting stress on the relationship.
"Mas nagiging close kami, sa totoo lang. Kasi ang sarap nung nagsi-share siya nung nararamdaman niya," Jolina said.
Rivermaya, in which Mark is the only remaining original member since its inception in the early '90s, is currently in the midst of a messy court battle against longtime manager Lizza Nakpil concerning band name ownership and other financial issues.
With Christmas just around the corner, Jolina confessed that she is still thinking of a nice present to give to Mark. Her boyfriend's unassuming and laidback disposition requires Jolina to be creative when it comes to gifts and surprises.
Jolina described Mark as "sweet" and full of surprises: "Natutuwa ako sa kanya kasi nasu-surprise niya ako kahit mga maliliit na bagay.
The couple's plan come Christmas Eve, however, is all set as early as now. Jolina proudly mentioned that the Magdangals and Escuetas are already close and that they're planning to share dinner together as part of their Christmas celebration.
"Siguro kami muna, we'll spend time together. Pero siyempre hindi namin papalagpasin 'yong both of our families sharing one dinner," smiled Jolina in closing.
