Actress Snooky Serna lost her mom Mila Ocampo (inset with Snooky) this morning. Mila died of emphysema, a long-term, progressive disease of the lung that primarily causes shortness of breath.

Sumakabilang-buhay na kaninang alas-10:30 ng umaga ang ina ng aktres na si Snooky Serna na si Mila Ocampo.
Si Mila (Milagros Rodriguez Sumayao sa tunay na buhay) ay dati ring aktres mula sa LVN Pictures. Edad 16 nang madiskubre siya ng may-ari ng LVN na si Narcisa B. Vda. De Leon o mas kilala bilang "Doña Sisang." Dahil sa ipinadalang litrato ng kaibigan ni Mila na tubong Iriga, Camarines Sur, natipuhan agad siya ni Doña Sisang at inalok na maging artista noong 1958.
Noong sumunod na taon, itinanghal siyang Miss PPP (Press Photography of the Philippines) at agad na lumabas sa una niyang pelikulang Takdang Sandali na pinangungunahan nina Amado Cortez, Gloria Sevilla, at Von Serna. Si Von ay naging asawa niya kalaunan at siyang ama ni Snooky.
Maaalala rin si Mila sa mga pelikulang tulad ng Biyaya ng Lupa (1959), Alyas Palos (1961), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (1971), Under-Age (1980), Zuma (1985), Sinungaling Mong Puso (1992), Paano Kung Wala Ka Na? (1997) at Dugo Sa Pantalan (1965) kunsaan na-nominate pa siya sa kategoryang Best Actress sa Famas Awards.
Namatay si Mila sa sakit na emphysema (sakit sa baga, kinakikitaan ng pagkakapos sa hininga) sa edad na 67. Nakaburol ngayon ang kanyang mga labi sa Royal 1 Chapel ng Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels sa Dr. A Santos Ave., Parañaque City. Sa Sabado, January 9, siya nakatakdang i-cremate.
Nakikiramay ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Snooky at sa mga mahal sa buhay ni Mila Ocampo.
