Dionisia Paquiao, mother of champion boxer Manny Pacquiao, sat on Showbiz Central's most popular seat today, January 24. It was no ordinary seat, however, as wires were attached to the celebrity mom connecting her to a machine that could tell whether she was telling the truth or not.
Welcome to the lie detector challenge, Mommy Dionisia.
If her son Manny can easily knock out challengers in the ring, can she on her part rain blows of truth to controversial issues thrown at her? Let's find out.
SUITORS. Mommy Dion is said to have gained a lot of suitors after she became visible in show business. Rumor has it that she has already set her eyes on one of them. True?
"Hindi ko naman totoo na nasagot ko na," said Mommy Dion, "pero maraming nanliligaw."
The lie detector said: LIE
This result did not faze Mommy Dion, it seemed. When asked to explain herself, she said, "Hindi ko na matandaan kung gaano karami pero wala talaga akong sinasagot pa talaga."
What about the age bracket of those suitors? Many of them are said to be in their twenties.
"Mayroon mga 35-38, pero wala akong tinatanggap kasi hindi ako makatanggap talaga at hindi ako naniniwala talaga. Tumitibok ang puso ko at pag-ibig ko sa friends ko at mga anak ko."
So, does it mean that suitors should totally quit courting her?
"Sorry, wala na," smiled Dionisia. "Bakit magbalik pa ako diyan? Nadaanan ko na."
COSMETIC HELP? The next question came from a suprise guest of the segment. Mommy Dion's friend and singing partner Imelda Papin arrived just in time to ask the next question. She asked, "Mommy D, alam ko na magandang-maganda ka na. Mayroon ka pa bang balak para mas lalong pagandahin pa ang iyong mukha. Mayroon ba na aayusin pa?"
"Wala naman," laughed Mommy Dion. "Kuntento na ako sa binigay ng Panginoon sa akin."
Her answer, said in a firm and candid voice, got the approval of the lie detector. She was telling the truth.
When asked if she did anything besides ballroom dancing to entertain herself, Dion said, "Masaya na ako na nagre-recording kami ni Imelda Papin. Matagal ko na hinahanap siya. Akala ko wala na siya sa mundo! 'Andito pala, e! Mag-record na lang kami!"
DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. It was said that she was jealous before of her daughter-in-law Jinkee for getting so much attention from Manny.
"No," Mommy Dion sweetly said. However, her answer was knocked down by the lie detector, which said it was a lie. Still looking composed, she explained, "Wala naman, nagkasunduan naman kami. Balita-balita lang 'yan. Mahal niya ako at mahal ko din siya."
CHICK-MAGNET SON. The next question was about her son Manny. The popular boxer and actor has become a magnet for controversy, especially if it's woman-related. Is it true that Manny ignores all the beautiful women linked to him?
"No. Hindi niya pinapansin," said Dion.
LIE, said the machine.
When asked to explain, she said, "Wala naman akong sinasabi sa lahat. To see is to believe ako. Hindi totoo iyan."
