"We owe it to the viewing public to come out with something. A story that is meaty, a story that is mature. A story that is relevant, di ba? Huwag naman sanang mangyari yung to pair us together for the sake of pairing Guy and Pip together," says Tirso Cruz III about doing a project with former screen partner Nora Aunor (inset) when she returns to showbiz.

"Well, yun nga, I would dare to say, it is really for the young," sabi ng veteran actor sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "Bagong director [Raul Jorolan], bagong scriptwriter, cameraman. Makikita mo yung enthusiasm niya kaya nakakatuwang katrabaho nga. Iilan lang naman ang genre na allowed tayong gawin dito because we're also controlled by the Censor, di ba?

"At least ito, it's a window na you can touch on, yung mga love story, at may mga anggulo ka na puwedeng gawin because you're aiming for outside the country, yung mga festival abroad. So, even yung mga language that you use, you can basically use. But when you think about it, it's demanded by the situation. Kasi tayo rito, may tendency tayong maging careful, sina-sanitize natin.

OLD & NEW.

"Well, it's a mixture," sagot niya. "There are certain old practices that I still miss. Pero ngayon, may mga new practices na, it's new. Pero sabi ko nga, like anything else siguro, some of us are having a hard time. On the awkward stage kasi minsan ang mga changes, but like anything in the industry, it's an evolution.

"It's something at first na hindi mo matanggap. But then, you learn to realize na, yes, this is it. This is the 21st century and this is the way that this is it now. Although yung time management, dating mga artista, scheduling, during the old days, if there's one thing that we'll follow, of course, with the absence of cell phone, hihintayin mo ang call slip. Pero nakalagay dun lahat. Ngayon, text na lang.

"Saka noon, if you have a copy of the script, somehow tinitingnan mo na, binabasa at pinag-aaralan mo na. So, pagdating mo, madali na. Ngayon kasi, minsan taping, location to follow, requirement to follow. And with the length of time na nandito ako, I've learned to accept na ganun talaga," saad ni Tirso.

"Siguro I'm lucky that I can cross-station. Kung kailangan nila ako dun. Ano rin siguro, a large part of it is seniority. So, I find it easy to talk with them," sabi niya.

EXPECTED TEAM-UP.

"Well, I'm sure they will try to pair us again," nakangiting sabi ng aktor. "Wala pa namang offer, pero para bang everybody is expecting it na. Ang mga nag-i-interview nga sa akin, sabi ko nga, ako, feeling ko lang kasi, sa akin, this is my profession, this is my job, regardless kung sino ang ka-partner ko. Pero lalo na kung kaming dalawa.

"We owe it to the viewing public to come out with something. A story that is meaty, a story that is mature. A story that is relevant, di ba? Huwag naman sanang mangyari yung to pair us together for the sake of pairing Guy and Pip together.

"Para bang...huwag ganun. Huwag nating sayangin ang pagkakataon. Let's make a good movie talaga. A good story. Whether it's a musical, a comedy or drama. Walang problema sa akin yun. Let's do it as better as before.
