Another dream come true para sa Prince of R&B Jay-R, na lumaki sa U.S., ang makapag-release ng isang all-OPM album. Puro revival nga ng mga sikat na OPM love songs ang nakapaloob sa 13-track album ni Jay R mula sa Universal Records. Nagkaroon ng presscon for Jay-R's album sa Linden Suites kahapon, March 10, at doon nakausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang singer.
Kabilang sa mga kantang nakapaloob sa all-OPM album ni Jay-R ang mga sumusunod: "Himala" ng Rivermaya, "Ako'y Sa 'Yo" ng Iaxe, "Ikaw Lamang" ni Zsa Zsa Padilla, "Paalam Na" ni Rachel Alejandro, "Muli" ni Rodel Naval, "Kahit Kailan" ng South Border, "Huwag Na Lang Kaya" ng True Faith, "Sa Isip Ko" ni Agot Isidro, "Sa Kanya" ni Ogie Alcasid, "Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin" ni Joey Albert, "Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga" ni Basil Valdez, "Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig" ni Jaya, at "Hagkan" ni Sharon Cuneta.
"Puro mga legendary po 'yung mga kinanta ko, talagang hit na hit po ang mga kanta," sambit ni Jay-R. "Ang masaya sa akin, what was fun to do is to make my own version. Yung Jay-R po na style nai-incorporate ko po sa hit na hit na song. So, sana lang, magustuhan ng mga tao yung version ko kasi classic na po yung mga kantang yun, e. Baka magalit po sila na iniba ko po ang ibang melody. Pero ang sa akin po, it's 2010, it's a new time. So, why not, you know, make it some fresh arrangement."
Jay-R's personal favorite among his songs in the album is "Ikaw Lamang," which was originally popularized by Zsa Zsa Padilla.
"Yung kanta, sobrang malalim po, e. Parang heartbroken siya na in love. Ako po kasi, pumapasok ako sa character ng kanta para feel na feel ng audience na feel na feel ko yung kinakanta ko. Hindi yung nakatayo lang ako at kumakanta sa kanila," sabi niya.
Kapansin-pansin naman ang bagong title ni Jay-R, from being the Prince of R&B, he is now called "The Platinum Prince of Soul."
BEAUTY QUEEN'S BOYFRIEND. Halatang masaya rin si Jay-R sa kanyang lovelife. Nakangiti siya palagi kapag tinatanong tungkol sa girlfriend niyang si Krissa Mae Arrieta, na kinoronahang Bb. Pilipinas-International sa katatapos lang na Binibining Pilipinas 2010.
Ano nga ba ang feeling na maging boyfriend ng isang beauty queen?
"I feel very proud!" bulalas ni Jay-R. "Feeling ko, alam n'yo yung pizza commercial na 'level up, pare,' feeling ko ganun yung nararamdaman ko. It's a different feeling po to be in a relationship like this. It's actually nice kasi we downsize ourselves as an artista. Kasi artist din po siya, artist din po ako. So, yung mga influences po niya, influences ko, magkapareho rin po kaya parang isa lang kami mag-isip. So, we give each other new idea, different idea. Parang from there, we try to be better lang po."
Bukod sa major title na nakuha ni Krissa Mae, nanalo rin ang girlfriend ni Jay-R ng Best in Swimsuit. Ano ang naramdaman ni Jay-R nung time na 'yon?
"Very happy po. Kasi feeling niya po, hindi siya magandang tingnan po. Kasi sabi niya, sobrang sexy raw po ng ibang babae. So, noong tinawag ang pangalan niya, siyempre po, naging masaya po ako kasi, yun, hindi niya akalain na mananalo siya dun, e, nanalo siya. I'm sure she was feeling really, really great at that time po. I was really happy for her po," sabi ng singer.
During the coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas sa Araneta Coliseum last March 6, Jay-R was seated beside Krissa Mae's mom.
"Yes, magkatabi po kami," nakangiting sabi ni Jay-R. "She flew all the way from the States po para makita po ang anak niya. Nandun po kami, nagsusuporta po kami sa kanya."
LIVE-IN ISSUE. Nilinaw rin ni Jay-R ang balitang nagli-live-in na raw sila ni Krissa Mae.
"Hindi po, hindi po," tanggi niya. "Siyempre, nandito rin po ang nanay niya. Kailangan din siyang mag-spend ng time with her mom. Hinahayaan ko rin po siya. At saka she's moving out nga po. She will rent a place in Eastwood."
Nalaman din namin mula kay Jay-R na may niluluto silang album para naman kay Krissa Mae, who also has a very good singing voice.
"Actually soon, we're doing a dance album and gagawa rin po kami ng duet dun. I will be producing her album under my Homeworks Records with, of course, the permission of Binibini."
PARTY PILIPINAS. Jay-R is also preparing na rin daw for the launch of Party Pilipinas, ang show na papalit sa nawalang SOP tuwing Linggo ng tanghali.
"Sobrang excited na po kami d'yan. It's gonna be a totally different show. At saka ang dami pong mga sorpresa na papasok po sa Party Pilipinas. Kasi, we have to to something, we have to make it big," sabi niya.
Bukod sa Party Pilipinas, magkakaroon ng isa pang show si Jay-R sa GMA-7, ang Taking Out, na siya ang magsisilbing host.
