Artista tayo, entertainer tayo, so dapat kahit saan tayo ilagay, kahit anong ibigay sa atin, puwede tayo," says Bearwin Meily about the ability of actors to play different characters.

His stint in GMA-7's upcoming afternoon teleserye Basahang Ginto is short. Nevertheless, Bearwin Meily accepted the role because it gave him the opportunity to portray a serious role.
Kasi, unang-una, Ita ako, seryoso, at may konting iyakan," he told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview at the media junket prepared for the show last Wednesday, May 19, at the 17th floor of GMA Network Center.
Bearwin said he did not have a hard time playing the role of Manoro, an Aeta husband of actress Rita Avila in the series. He said reading the script months before the actual taping helped him relate to the character.
Ito, maaga so napaghandaan. So, [napaghandaan] namin, kami ni Ms. Rita Avila as mag-asawa.
Bearwin said he has finished taping his part on the show. However, he's hoping that this is not the only project where he can play a role that's exactly the opposite of what he's known for.
He told PEP, "Ganun naman 'yan, e. Artista tayo, entertainer tayo, so dapat kahit saan tayo ilagay, kahit anong ibigay sa atin, puwede tayo. Kapag gusto naman nilang magpakalbo ako, kung babayaran ako, why not, di ba? Magpapakalbo ako ulit, magpapapayat ako ulit."
NEXT MAGIC SHOW. Aside from being a comedian, Bearwin is also known for his ability to do magic. In fact, he had his own magic show on television called Naks (2004) after performing magic tricks in the defunct sitcom Lagot Ka Isusumbong Kita (2004).
Recalling how he was introduced to magic, Bearwin told PEP, "It started as a hobby. May nakita akong magic shop. E, that time idol ko na si David Blaine. Ayun, nag-aral-aral lang ako."
Then, he told PEP how he got his own magic show on GMA-7.
Aside from Naks, the comedia-magician also appeared in a two-hour special program of Q Channel 11 called Thou Shall Not Blink. Among the acts he did on that show were the basic magic tricks using a deck of cards and coins. He also performed illusions.
This year, Bearwin is hoping to do another TV special that will showcase his talent as a magician.
"Mayroon akong pinaghahandaan pero under negotiation pa with the network, by October or November. Halloween special siya. So partly kasama itong pag-diet ko ngayon," he revealed.
When PEP asked him what he's planning to do on this show, Bearwin hinted, "Siyempre dapat paakyat nang paakyat hindi pag-akyat, baba. So, patindi rin nang patindi."
