Former leader Joseph "Erap" Estrada wants to live as a private citizen following his failed bid to regain the presidency in this year's national elections.

Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada revealed to ABS-CBN News his intentions to live a life away from the spotlight following his runner-up showing in the presidential elections last May 10.

"Lahat na halos ay ibinigay sa akin. Siguro ako ay isa sa pinakamasuwerteng nilalang na ako'y nabigyan ng pagkakataon maging superstar, maging mayor, maging senator, maging vice-president, president, at prisoner pa. Palagay ko marami nang binigay sa aking pagkakataon ang Panginoon at ang ating mga kababayan," Estrada told ABS-CBN's Europe News Bureau chief Danny Buenafe.

Estrada is currently in London to attend the college graduation of daughter Jerika at the American Intercontinental University.

A popular action hero in the movies before entering politics, Estrada also relayed his desire to stay away from doing films or any showbiz-related projects in the immediate future.

Estrada's last film, which served as his comeback movie after many years, was produced by Star Cinema under the title Ang Tanging Pamilya.

The interview revealed the possibility of Estrada writing a personal memoir chronicling his colorful and storied journey from childhood to the presidency to the lowest point of his life as a deposed leader serving detention while under trial for plunder charges.

Estrada said the book would be an honest account of his life, including an honest assessment of his mistakes as a government official.

As for the title of the book, Estrada teasingly said, Memoirs: The Life and Loves of Erap.

After stealing all that money, you have more than enough to quit politics and showbiz and leak your wounded ego. I know you spent tens of millions to buy votes that still came up extremely short. One positive thing that I came out of this was he came up ahead of Villar, the bext friend of Willie the loser.

Hindi siya useless president alam mo kung bakit ha siya lang naman ang nagtaas ng matatangap ng mga tao pensiyonado, siya lang ang nag all out war sa mindanao na hindi mo alam kung gaano ka importante yun at marami pang iba na hindi mo alam. its about time na mag retire na siya. pero kung di kumandidato si noy seguradong panalo muli siya. pero on second thought dapat na ngang mamahinga siya as a private citizen. i redeem na lang niya ang sarili niya as a philantropist maybe at tulungan ang mga taong naghihirap sa pinas in a quiet way.

no matter what other people say about him, for me, STILL, isa parin sya sa presidenteng hinahangaan ko. para sa akin, madami syang nagawa in his short lived as president. yung pagtataas ng sweldo ng mga teacher sa termino nya yun, in his term din tumaas ang ani ng bigas. sa termino nya rin bumaba ang crime rate. lahat naman nagbubulsa ng kaban ng bayan, almost all official naman may babae, lahat naman me flaws ang pagkatao. ang maganda lang yung kahit bumubulsa e may ginagawa. usually pinoy kasi are just looking at the bad side.

basta ako, gusto ko parin sya, kahit nega sya sa iba. yung respect ko sa kanya di bumaba.
