"This industry has been very kind to me.

Ipalalabas muli ang Sigwa sa University of the Philippines, Diliman, ngayong linggo. (CLICK HERE to view the screening schedules)
"Well, every award is important. Pero ito, para sa akin, is very important because this is my first sa Cinemalaya. And Cinemalaya is a relatively new group, kahit naka-anim na sila. It's a new group, [na] different yung attack. At very wide ang playing field sa Cinemalaya since walang censorship.
"So, it's an honor for me na kahit papa'no, na-recognize yung work ko rito sa Sigwa. Sabi ko nga, ako, I'm very thankful. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Direk Joel for having entrusted the character of Oliver sa akin, na kinunsider niya ako to play Oliver."
So, I'm thankful sa kanila, very thankful dun sa group. I mean, it's another award that I will cherish and treasure.
"Nakakataba ng puso," patuloy niya. "And it gives you a new lease on life. Gives you food for thought na dapat talaga ipagpatuloy mo pa rin ang pag-aaral, pagbutihin pa rin ang paglabas sa kung anumang character ang ipe-play mo because it means na there is always... Sabi nga nila, if there's one thing you'll never run out of, it's room for improvement. And then if you become lucky enough to get directors, like Joel Lamangan, who will ably guide you talaga into your character, talagang you'll be able to come up with works that you can look back to."
LIFE AS A CYCLE. Bagamat nagsimula sa industriya ng pelikula bilang isa sa top matinee idols noong late '60s at early '70s, na kapareha ni Nora Aunor (of the famous Guy & Pip tandem), nag-graduate si Tirso into doing character roles kung saan higit ding napansin ang kakayahan niya sa pagganap.
"I've learned through the years," makahulugang banggit ni Pip. That's a big factor also, na mabigyan mo ng mas magandang portrayal ang role mo because the people you work with help you out also."
A veteran of more than a hundred films, several Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards, masasabi ni Pip ngayon na ang pag-arte sa pelikula at telebisyon ang siyang buhay niya.
"This industry has been very kind to me," sambit niya.
"Ako kasi, ang tingin ko, like anything in life, it's a cycle, e. It's a circle. You go around, di ba? Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down," paliwanag niya. "Sometimes you look for your niche under the sun, and stay there as long as you can. And, yun nga, never really give up. Never stop studying and learning, and picking up things from other people, from other performers. Madami kang matututunan, e. Ang dami pa."
ON NORA AUNOR AND ENDLESS LOVE.
"Well, right now, ongoing pa rin yung Endless Love [GMA-7 teleserye starring Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Dennis Trillo].
Huwag naman yung just for the sake of doing a movie, gagawin ko na lang.
