Since 2009, Tirso Cruz III has been seen on GMA-7 shows, the latest of which was I ♥ You Pare wherein he was cast as a transvestite named Sarsi. The show eneded last May.

However, the veteran actor has decided to accept ABS-CBN's offer and star in the upcoming primetime series Budoy.

When PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to talk to Tirso regarding this career move, he revealed: "Two weeks ago pinirmahan ko ang contract...I signed up for a couple of projects with them.

"Maybe it will be for a year or two, depende sa frequency ng shows...if it will be one soap after another."

This makes Tirso as one of the few actors able to "cross over" to rival networks.

"Both studios have treated me nicely. I'm thankful na kinuha ulit ako ng Dos [ABS-CBN]," he said with a smile.

FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. Tirso was last seen on the Kapamilya shows Only You (where he played the father of Sam Milby's character) and Nasaan Ka Maruja? (in the role of a doctor).

Why did he choose to leave GMA-7?

"Nauna lang sila [ABS-CBN] mag-offer," he said.

"For the longest time, nauunahan lang sila ng Channel 7 kasi bago matapos ang soap ko, sinasabihan na ako na may kasunod na. Nauuna lang sila [GMA-7] lagi.

"Just to be fair with both parties, kung sino na lang ang naunang mag-offer, dun na muna ako.

"Ako naman, I never burned my bridges. When I was going to transfer to Channel 2, I gave fair warning to Channel 7."

He clarified that he does not have any grudge against the Kapuso network.

"I've had very good dealings with them. Trabaho lang.

"It doesn't affect my personal relationship with people from Channel 7 and people from Channel 2.

"Kahit nung nasa kabila ako, pag nagkikita kami sa mga parties, walang samaan ng loob."

BUDOY. The veteran actor will have the chance to work with Gerald Anderson, the lead actor of Budoy.
