Could 2012 be the end of life on earth as we know it?

The dark and dreary prediction of world annihilation comes from ancient Maya, a Mesoamerican civilization that reached the pinnacle of its development circa 250 and 900 A.D.

While the prediction is well-known (infamous, if you wil), most people refuse to entertain the idea.

Nevertheless, the end-of-the-world prophecy evokes fear.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked eight celebrities their take on the forecast.

Most were optimistic and dismissed the hearsay, but we went on anyway to inquire about their bucket list—or the things they aim to do before that hypothetical catastrophe occurs.

ERVIC VIJANDRE (Model, Actor): Ako siguro, ganun lang. Normal, normal...

Mag-prayer or kumain kami nang sabay- sabay.

JOHN "SWEET" LAPUS (Comedian, Actor): Oh, my God! Kung totoo man 'yan, for next year, I would do nothing but good deeds towards other people—my family, my friends, or even strangers that I don't know.

I have to make sure that I will go to Heaven and meet our Creator.

Ngayon naman, kahit wala pa yung 2012, I'm constantly doing my best to be good to others kasi I believe in karma, I believe that there's Heaven, and if we are good in this borrowed life, we will be there as 2012 would come.

BANGS GARCIA (Actress): It's kinda hard kasi I'm really optimistic. I really don't think it's going to be... the end of the world.

Siguro, spend time with my loved ones, most importantly.

Right now kasi I'm painting. I'm also painting aside from acting.

One thing pala I remembered, since I also love singing, and people know that I can dance, pero they don't know that I can sing. So, siguro kung magtu-2012, mag-a-album rin ako!

ALWYN UYTINGCO (Actor): Sagarin ko na siguro! Preparation siguro. Preparation for my family siguro.

Maghahanap ako ng safe place? Mountains siguro. Oo!

Siguro sasagarin ko na, like magta-travel around the world, yun lang.

SOLENN HEUSAFF (Model, Actress, Singer): I'm sure everyone will have a little bit of scare pero I think there's still a hundred years to go.

NOOD KA MUNA!

[How to spend the last year on earth?] Actually, not any different than others... I'll just live like I live, naturally.

And then biglang, 'Boom!,' nawala ako!

Maybe I'll have more travels kasi I love traveling—Tibet, Brazil, and Africa. I've been everywhere in Asia na, everywhere in Europe, so yung remaining is Africa.

At siyempre naman, I'd spend more time with my loved ones.

MOI MARCAMPO (Survivor Celebrity Showdown 2010 contestant, also seen in Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme): Parang hindi naman ako naniniwala.

Pero kunwari, last year na next year?

EULA CABALLERO (Actress): Same lang, same lang as how I spent it this year. Pero kasi, 'di ba nga, nasa showbiz and then sobrang sunud-sunod yung days na may trabaho ka?

Pero if that's the case na mag-e-end na talaga, then I'd surely find time na most of the days in a week, I'd be with my family. If I have to take them to work, para lang makasama ko sila, then I will.

Kasi a year, kung tutuusin, maikli na nga yun, 'di ba, to enjoy with your family?

Sobrang maikli na yun, so live it to the fullest na talaga—to be with my family, to do my best in my work, and everything ... to be the best in everything na talaga.

At least, I know, when I'm about to die, we're all about to die, I'm happy na, content with how I did while I was alive.

HIRO MAGALONA (Actor): Well, first, magso-sorry ako sa mga taong nasagasaan ko. I know, tao lang ako, nagkakasala ako, so, magso-sorry ako.

So, why not make it last na para ipakita mo na mahal mo sila?

And 'ayun, kung may lovelife, why not? May 'Someday Girl' ako. Siya yung gusto ko. Hindi ngayon, but 'someday.' Siguro yung someday na yun, siguro nitong 2012 na!

Totoo si 'Someday Girl.' Hindi kami compatible ngayon, but some day, sabi niya.

Gusto niya talaga maging nurse. Focused siya dun. Wala siyang time... pero someday nga.
