Bukod dito, magbibigay-serbisyo rin daw ang orchestra para sa mahihirap. At isa sa mga magiging proyekto nito ay ang pagtayo ng orchestra na binubuo ng mahihirap na kabataan.
Tapos na ang auditions para sa grupong ito, at ilu-launch ito sa Setyembre.
Paliwanag pa ni Gerard, makakatulong ang orchestra na ito sa paghubog ng kabataan sa larangan ng musika.
“An important aspect of each and every member of that orchestra is that they're from very low-income families, and that they can't afford for lessons themselves.
“The inspiration for that is the Venezuelan El Sistema, where kids are given an instrument, and lessons are paid for, teachers are paid for.
“They just have to show up. And they become part of the family, and they learn how to become good citizens by learning the positive traits that orchestra players have, which are sensitivity, teamwork, discipline, and hard work.”
Ang ABS-CBN Philharmonic orchestra ay isang joint venture ng ABS-CBN at First Philippine Holdings.
Magkakaroon ito ng inaugural concert sa BDO Francisco Santiago Hall sa Makati sa August 18.
