Kahapon, May 9, matapos lumabas ang appointment paper ni Mocha, nag-retweet si Mariel ng ulat tungkol dito.
Caption ng anak nina Christopher de Leon at Sandy Andolong: "What is happening Philippines?"
Kasunod nito, may nagtanong tungkol sa kanyang saloobin tungkol sa appointment ni Mocha.
Sagot ng beauty queen, “Biased and disrespectful.
"She insults those who are against her.
"I'm not for her, I'm not for the other side (whatever that may be)."
Dagdag pa ni Mariel, “I love my country so it breaks my heart to know someone like her got a position in the govt.”
Sabi pa ng Binibining Pilipinas winner sa isa niyang tweet, “There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place. There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place.”
Ikinagalit ito ng ilang fans ni Mocha at tagasuporta rin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
BASHERS. Sa Facebook, may ilang nagpahayag ng pagkainis kay Mariel.
May isa ring kolumnista na pinagkumpara ang buhay nina Mariel at Mocha.
Kinuwestiyon ng Manila Times columnist na si Sass Rogando Sasot ang kuwalipikasyon ni Mariel upang husgahan si Mocha.
Bahagi ng kanyang Facebook post ngayong araw: “Well, Bb Pilipinas-International, it fundamentally entails understanding and having an actual experience in community engagement online. Now tell us, how is Mocha not qualified to do the job? But before that: What made you qualified to gauge someone's qualification in that field?”
May ilan namang nangampanya pang huwag iboto online si Mariel sa darating na Miss International 2017 pageant.
May iba pang masasakit na salitang ibinabato kay Mariel dahil sa kanyang opinyon.
Sa isang tweet, tila may sagot si Mariel sa kanila.
Pahayag niya, "That's why we're not evolving. Because some people care more about the superficial than what really matters. It's always Country over Crown.
“Receiving messages saying I shouldn't speak up like that otherwise I won't win the Int'l crown. Uh... So para sa inyo, Crown over Country???”
Dagdag pa niya, “There are so much issues happening in our country now so I'm glad that I have the platform now to voice out my opinions.
“See, beauty pageants aren't just for 'standing there and looking pretty.'"
