From Ruffa to Annabelle
Rama: Pokwang this time impersonates the feisty Gutierrez matriarch. It can be
recalled that Annabelle lambasted Pokwang for making fun of her sons—Richard and
Raymond—in a previous comedy show. During a press conference prepared by
ABS-CBN to promote Da Spooftacular
Showdown, director Phillip Lazaro stressed that the punch lines prepared were
not sanitized just for the sake of avoiding the possible ire of the subjects.

John Lapus once again dons
the character of Kris Anino—a parody of game show host and good friend Kris
Aquino. The audience laughed their hearts out as John effectively copied and exaggerated
Kris's mannerisms and actions for maximum effect.

In a conversation with
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) weeks before the show, Jon mentioned that
the writers of the show deliberately avoided inserting political jokes. "Let's
just wait for 2010 for that," said Jon pertaining to the upcoming
national elections. Jon was part of 2007's comedy show Rock Da Vote—a comedy show staged every
election period where stand up comedians perform to lampoon political figures.

Candy Pangilinan tries
her utmost best to clinch the Dyosa honor
by animatedly stating her case as to why she should be chosen by Bathala over
John and Jon.

Candy reportedly earned
the ire of the Noranians for impersonating their idol, Nora Aunor. Despite the controversy, Candy remained professional all throughout and
delivered the role as instructed by direk Phillip.

Spooftacular Showdown introduced new characters like
Candy's impersonation of the bespectacled ugly-duckling Betty La Fea. Candy
brought the house down when she retorted, "Siguro batchmate kita," to a heckler
inside the venue.

the hand. Take note of Jon's overall appearance as inspired by the popular
American talk show host.

Da
Spooftacular Showdown aims to offer a breather as what
Jon proudly enthused: "E, kasi nga daw nakaka-aburido ang mga news sa
pahayagan. Mag-break muna tayo for two hours man lang at mag-relax at
magtawanan sandal tapos mas madali tayong magkaroon ng relief, comic relief, para
tuloy ang buhay, hindi tayo masyadong nasa-sad."
