Comedian Allan K opened the first Star Awards for Music with a song-and-dance performance with the SexBomb Dancers.

Rachelle Ann Go was hailed as the Female Star of the Night. She also performed her famous version of Melissa Manchester's "Don't Cry Out Loud."

Rap artist D'Coy's "Pambansang Kamao" music video topped the Music Video of the Year category. This was used as the theme song of Manny Pacquiao's weekend TV show Pinoy Records.

Since her boyfriend Ogie Alcasid was in Japan for Bubble Gang's taping, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez accepted the Song of the Year and Male Recording Artist of the Year awards on his behalf.
