Five diverse entries are competing for the 5th edition of the Cinema One Originals digital film festival. They will be screened at Gateway cinemas from November 13-17, 2009. The awarding ceremony will take place at the Dolphy Theater, ABS-CBN compound on November 15.

Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee are cast as the lead stars of Paano Ko Sasabihin (How Do I Say
This). This is a romantic comedy about two souls entangled in a loop of lies,
both of them hoping that true love will straighten everything out.

Richard Legaspi, the writer and director of Paano Ko Sasabihin, revealed that he got the idea for the movie because of his childhood memories of seeing people use sign language. He says that he lived near a school for the deaf on the border
of Santolan, Malabon and Malinta, Valenzuela.

This year, Cinema One and Creative Programs Inc. (CPI)
selected five finalists from over a hundred scripts and gave them a grant of P1 million. 2009 also marks the 15th anniversary of Cinema One cable channel.

The title of Melvin Brito's
film, Bala-Bala, is derived from the Batangueño term that means "kunwari" in Tagalog. He cast Angel Jacob as Ka Maria, a woman perceived to be a mangkukulam in the town of Dagatan, San Jose, Batangas.

Micah Muñoz is the agriculturist named Fredrick Aguila who visits the epidemic-stricken
area of Dagatan, San Jose, Batangas. He is tasked to identify
the disease that is spreading throughout the barrio and killing all
the livestock.
In the course of his investigation
he not only uncovers the secrets of the barrio, but miraculously heals
a young girl.
News of his healing power spreads,
and the villagers demand that he cure their sick children as well. Fredrick
discovers his true identity, and his mysterious connection with the
events in Dagatan.
