Gretchen Barretto headlined tabloids, entertainment columns, and PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in 2006 because of her spat with Dawn Zulueta during their commercial shoot together. One particular detail which was considered as one of the alleged reasons: Gretchen lugged too many Louis Vuittons.
In YES! magazine's January cover shoot, Gretchen brought seven Louis Vuitton luggages—four Monogram Canvas trunk and bags, one Damier Canvas suitcase, and two Epi Leather Keepalls—to carry all her clothes and make-up that she will be needing for the pictorial.
Afterall, LV is known to house the wardrobe of the moneyed.
"Louis Vuitton was trained as a luggage packer for upscale Parisian families in the early 1800s. His claim to fame was being the official packer of Empress Eugenie, as appointed by Napoleon III himself," writes Associate Fashion Editor Liz Uy in Preview's January-February issue. The magazine lists down nine iconic bags that defined the brand: Wardrobe, Steamer Bag, Keepall, Speedy, Noé, Alma, Lockit, Papillon, and Bucket.
Louis Vuitton remains to be one of, if not the only brand that does not hold sales or give discounts. Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Lopez have been known fans of the monogram leather.
In local showbiz, PEP spots a few celebrities lugging the famous Louis.
