Classic Filipino art lives on in fashion as local brand Freeway translates the wonderful creations of Vicente Manansala, national artist for Visual Arts, in their latest collection.
At The Row in Glorietta 5 last October 17, Freeway launched their new Manansala-printed designs as part of their effort to bring old school painting closer to the younger generation.

Tim Yap, who hosted the event, was very impressed with how Vicente Manansala captured the social conditions of the country during his time through his paintings.
Here he is wearing a custom-made jacket printed with one of Manansala's works.

Before the fashion show, a short video was presented depicting the life of the great painter.
One cool fact we learned about Vicente "Enteng" Manansala was that he persistently courted his wife, Herminigilda Diaz, for seven long years before they married in 1937.

Rona Manansala, granddaughter of the late national artist, keeps one of her grandfather's precious pieces at home—a nude portrait of her Lola Herminigilda made on the night she supposedly lost her virginity to Lolo Vicente.

Cedie Lopez-Vargas was one of the major supporters of this project.
The Lopez Museum, which she curates, houses many of Vicente Manansala's works that were used in the fashion collection.

Maritess Pineda, one of Manansala's closest friends, owns one of the largest collections of his art in the country.
Most of the pieces were given to her by the artist as a gift.
