Bea Alonzo has this to say about her upcoming movie with John Lloyd Cruz: "So far sa mga eksenang nagawa na namin, ito na yung pinaka-matapang na ginawa ko or ginawa namin ni John Lloyd, at no regrets na ginawa ko ito kasi ito na yung perfect project para gawin ko ito."

Bea's character in the movie is named Sari, while John Lloyd's character is called JD.

Ronaldo Valdez, 64, plays the mature benefactor of a young woman played by Bea, 24.

In a video interview, Ronaldo said that he made it a point to make Bea comfortable. "Baka mailang siya, I tried my best to be at ease with her. Ayokong isipin niya na nagte-take advantage ako," he said.

Ronaldo and Bea previously worked together in the ABS-CBN remake of I Love Betty La Fea.

"Sa Betty La Fea, anak ko si Bea doon. Dito, karelasyon ko siya," says the veteran actor.

Bea admitted that she felt nervous about accepting the role of a mistress.

"By far, ito ang pinakamatapang na movie ko dahil marami akong ginawa dito na never ko pa nagawa sa teleserye man o pelikula. Mahirap siya, feeling ko aatakihin ako sa puso kada eksena." 

In a separate interview, Bea revealed that she felt uneasy about shooting a kissing scene with Ronaldo Valdez.

"Iyong kissing scene na nakita niyo sa trailer, talagang hindi ako mapakali before that, until nilapitan ako ni Tito Ronaldo. Sabi niya, ‘Magiging kumportable ako sa ‘yo, ha. Please be comfortable with me. Sana hindi ka ma-offend,'" recalled the young actress.  

John Lloyd credits honesty as one of the reasons for the success of his team-up with Bea.

"Iyon naman ang hawak namin ni Bea since day one—sincerity. Hindi namin dinisillusion ang aming mga taga-suporta. Hindi namin pinalabas na nagkakagustuhan kami. In fact, kapag kami ay magkaaway, talagang magkaaway kami."

Bea playfully asked John Lloyd to buy her earrings as an "anniversary gift." She said, exaggerating her excitement, "May gusto kasi akong earrings!"

John Lloyd deadpans, "Alam mo, ang mga jewelry pag binibigay ng isang lalaki sa isang babae, napaka-intimate no'n. Sign of intimacy iyon." An unperturbed Bea retorted that she wouldn't ask for any more gifts if JLC would give her the earrings.

Asked what gift John Lloyd wants in return, the actor again deadpans, "Ako, it's a toss between a condo unit or kotse."

Bea clarified that even though she became close to John Lloyd, there was never any formal courtship that took place.

"Hindi, walang ganun, hindi umabot sa ligawan. Siyempre, noon mga bata pa kami. Hindi nga namin ma-define kung ano yung nararamdaman namin. Baka hindi kinailangang mangyari kaya umabot kami sa sampung taon." 

When asked what lessons she learned while doing this movie, Bea answered, "Hindi lahat ng gusto mo kaya mong  kunin kasi iyon ang para sa'yo. Kung ano yung binibigay sa'yo, may rason kung bakit iyon ang ibinigay sa'yo, at kailangan mong tanggapin.

"Love is about choices, life is all about choices, and love is a choice. Kaya nga tayo binigyan ng utak ng Diyos para piliin natin kung ano ang tama, hindi kung ano lang iyong gusto ng puso natin."

Bea is grateful to be given the chance to work with the matinee idol.

"Para sa akin, one of the greatest gifts na ibinigay sa akin ni Lord, na binigyan ako ng isang John Lloyd Cruz sa buhay ko—na lagi kong makakatrabaho. Alam mo iyon, kasabay kong natututo, parang sabay kayong umaakyat sa bawat step ng buhay ninyo."

In 2008, John Lloyd Cruz was hailed as Box-Office King by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation for his movie with Bea titled One More Chance.

He bagged the same title in 2009 and 2010 when he was paired with Sarah Geronimo for the movies A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life respectively.

The Mistress is helmed by Olivia Lamasan (not in photo), whom the stars affectionately call "Inang."

Direk Olivia helped form the loveteam when she agreed to let Bea become the partner of John Lloyd in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.
