The couple went on a day tour of the Grand'Place (Grote Markt) in Brussels, Belgium. This is the historic market square famous for its grand guild houses. "The shops along this area," Berna notes, "were mostly souvenir shops."

The Amsterdam adventure was a short one. "That's why we weren't able to really go around," says Berna. "But of course we did check out their so-called Red Light District. In fact, this photo was taken on the bridge, which was along a stretch of small sex bars and nightclubs with display windows—and the ‘goods' on display were women of all ages and sizes. Medyo na-culture-shock kami dito."

Behind Berna is the bell tower of the Aachen Cathedral, built by medieval Germany's King Charlemagne and now his resting place. Here's what Berna says about this photo: "One thing that struck us—since this was our first time in Europe—was how intricate and grand their architecture was. It's really amazing how they are able to preserve their churches and castles. It felt great to see them live and not just in books."

Berna took this photo of Gary in front of the Cathedral of Cologne in Germany. This magnificent Gothic structure is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Berna says it is considered Germany's greatest cathedral: "Construction started in the Middle Ages (1248) and was completed only after 632 years."

"I think this was on our fourth day in Germany," says Berna. "We decided to wake up early and explore the city by ourselves. We finished two rolls of film—posing and taking pictures of each other. Here we try to imitate the statues beside us!"
