Swift, crafty and suave: The young cast of Palos is composed of (L-R) Be Bench finalist Ron Morales, Be Bench winner Regine Angeles, Carla Humphries, Jake Cuenca, Roxanne Guinoo, and Jay-R Siaboc. They personify the theme of the new ABS-CBN action-adventure TV series that will premiere on January 28.

Young heartthrob Jake Cuenca (left) and veteran actor Cesar Montano (right) definitely did more than just flash their toned bodies for this project. Palos, as revealed by both actors, entails a lot of hard work—emotionally and physically.

"Para sa kanila naman po ‘to, e," said Jake to the press during the January 15 press conference of Palos. "Ginagalingan namin, pinaghihirapan namin para po sa kanila [the audience]."

Despite the marital problems between Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano, the couple were professional enough to work together on Palos. Cesar is Fabio, one of the best agents of Neptune, while Sunshine plays the role of his wife who dies while they were in Macau, China.

Bernard Bonnin, the father of Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach, has played the mercenary Palos eight times on the big screen since 1962. This character is based on the komiks character created by the Redondo brothers. The beret-wearing agent was first introduced to the public on on January 27, 1969.

In the TV remake, which airs 39 years after the first public appearance of Palos, Jake Cuenca and Cesar Montano will pit their fighting skills against each other to determine who has the right to be named Palos.

This is the first time that Jake and Valerie have been paired together in a TV series. This is Jake's biggest break after appearing on the drama series Natutulog Ba ang Diyos? In fact, when he was shooting his scenes in Macau, Filipinos there called him Andrew, the name of his character in Natutulog Ba ang Diyos?

After shooting their fast-paced fight scene in front of Barra Temple, Jake and Valerie shot their love scene at Casino Lisboa.

In the story, Silvia is an agent who makes Giancarlo fall in love with her so she can manipulate him.

Cesar Montano is photographed at the boardwalk behind Rock Hotel. The bridge behind him is called the Macau-Taipa Bridge, which spans 2,569.8 meters.

Palos refers to a professional thief adept in the fighting arts and possesses acrobatic skills. Who will emerge as the true Palos? Will it be the rugged and self-sufficient Fabio (Cesar Montano) or his rich and smart son Giancarlo (Jake Cuenca)?

Giancarlo (Jake) is paired with two ladies, Anna (Roxanne) and Valerie (Silvia). However, a tragedy will befall Anna, causing deep pain for the young agent.

Giancarlo (Jake Cuenca) is being positioned as an action star beginning with his lead role in Palos. In prepartaion for this TV series, he and Cesar Montano studied martial arts under the trainors of Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

Fabio (Cesar Montano) is one of the best agents of Neptune, an organization engaged in covert operations, including espionage. Bernard Bonnin (not in photo), the man who originally played Palos on the big screen, will have a special role as Ninong—the influential ex-general of Neptune.

Giancarlo (Jake Cuenca) is a top agent who has only one mission in life: avenge the death of his mother (Sunshine Cruz). The crafty rookie is led to believe that his father, Fabio (Cesar) is the man responsible for the death of his mother.

Valerie "Bangs" Garcia poses in front of Barra Temple. Built in the 15th century, this is considered most ancient among the three renowned Buddhist temples in Macau.

Valerie Garcia became a public figure when she became part of the youth-oriented shows Let's Go and Gokada Go. She earned the nickname Bangs because of her hairstyle that partly covered her face.

Jake's former girlfriend Roxanne Guinoo is part of Palos as Anna, the childhood sweetheart of Giancarlo (Jake).

In the January 17 press conference of Palos, Roxanne talks about the status of her relationshjip with her former flame: "Gaya nga ng sabi niya [Jake], ‘Okay na okay kami.' Ayaw naming masayang 'tong opportunity sa amin, e. Nagbida na siya sa Palos so talagang make or break na ito sa kanya. And ito nga, kapalit ng Palos sa akin yung soap with Ms. Claudine dahil fan talaga ako ni Claudine."

Roxanne is set to appear in the upcoming Sineserye Florinda starring Claudine Barretto.

After portraying a showgirl in Margarita, Wendy Valdez will play a tricycle driver named Nicolla. She will help Fabio (Cesar Montano) during his time of need.

Be Bench winner Regine Angeles is launched in the TV series Palos as the spontaneous Agent Paola. Along with Carlo Guevera, she was proclaimed the winner of the model search during the grand finals held last September 11, 2007.

Carla Humphries (in photo) plays Stella, the childhood friend of Fabio who becomes an agent of Neptune.

Palos is directed by Trina Dayrit, Erick Salud, and Toto Natividad. It airs weeknights on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.
