Sunshine Dizon is set to return to GMA-7's Afternoon Prime block via a new drama series called Magkaagaw.
A story conference was held last Friday, August 9.
Sunshine will be joined by veteran actress Sheryl Cruz. Sunshine and Sheryl's bida-kontrabida duo became popular in the 2006 series Bakekang, where Sunshine played the title role.
Sunshine's last TV series was the Kapuso afternoon teleserye Inagaw na Bituin, with Kyline Alcantara, Therese Malvar, Angelika dela Cruz, and Angelu de Leon. It aired from February to March 2019.
Prior to Inagaw na Bituin, Sunshine was the lead star of the popular afternoon series Ika-6 Na Utos, which ran from December 2016 to March 2018.
Her portrayal as Emma in Ika-6 Na Utos earned Sunshine Best Actress trophies in two international award-giving bodies mounted by Filipinos: the 16th Gawad Amerika Awards and OFW Gawad Parangal 2017.
Jeric Gonzales and Klea Pineda, who worked as partners in the series Ika-5 Utos, are reuniting for Magkaagaw.
Magkaagaw serves as Jeric's project after his supposed Kapuso prime-time series, Rosang Agimat, was shelved.
Last June 8, an accident happened on the set of Rosang Agimat involving Eddie Garcia. The veteran actor died on June 20, 2019.
Magkaagaw will be directed by Gil Tejada Jr., Sunshine and Sheryl's director in Bakekang.
RJ Nuevas, headwriter of Bakekang, will also head the creative team of Magkaagaw.
Sunshine wrote in her Instagram post with Sheryl, Gil, and RJ: "Bakekang reunion feels with Ate @officialsherylcruz , Kuya @arjaynuevas and Direk Tatay Gil #MAGKAAGAW soon on @gmadrama afternoon prime"
GMA-7 has yet to announce Magkaagaw's airing date.
