Replete with its satirical attacks on the different socio-political issues of the country, signature side-splitting humor, and the one and only Mae Paner, the Juana Change movement finally sees its brainchild hit the big screen as Juana C. The Movie.
What started out as a series of YouTube videos of political parodies written by activist/writers Rody Vera and Raymond Lee is now a full-length film that tackles corruption, the poor education system, prostitution, and even illegal mining in the Philippines. At the center of the story is the activist/thespian Mae who assumes the character of Juana Change, a naïve provincial lass, who is sent by her folks to a top university in Manila. Juana journeys from being an apolitical and apathetic innocent to a young adult who becomes instrumental in exposing the bad governance and corruption in the political system.
Directed by Zombadings director Jade Castro, Juana C. The Movie also stars John James Uy, Annicka Dolonius, Angelina Kanapi, Jelson Bay, Niño Muhlach, Joel Torre, Ronnie Lazaro, Madeleine Nicolas, Joel Lamangan, Soxie Topacio, and Soliman Cruz.
It will be screened in cinemas beginning June 5.
