Vice Ganda targets P600 million for Praybeyt Benjamin 2; combined box-office gross of his movies now reach over 1 billion

Vice Ganda describes Praybeyt Benjamin 2 co-star Richard Yap (middle) as "karne-karnehan" of their movie. The comedian says about shooting action scenes with Tom Rodriguez (right): "Kaya gusto ko ang fight scene kasi may mga yakapang hindi sinasadya... May mga dikitan ng dibdib..."

Vice Ganda wants to become the "first gay action star" of the Philippines.

The comedian revealed this during the December 7 press conference of Praybeyt Benjamin 2 held at the 9501 restaurant located at the ABS-CBN compound.

How would Vice Ganda compare his 2011 movie The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin with this year's The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin?

Vice Ganda then compared Richard Yap with his previous co-star, Derek Ramsay, who played his commanding officer in the first installment of Praybeyt Benjamin.

ON BOX-OFFICE RIVALS. During the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Vice Ganda portrayed four characters with different genders in Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy.

This comedy film can be considered the highest grossing Philippine film of all time, according to Star Cinema.

When Vice Ganda was asked for the box-office gross of Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, he disclosed: P456 million.

Vice Ganda recalled: "Sa first week yata nauna sila [referring to My Little Bossings] pero nung natapos na ang buong run, kami na [ang nanguna]."

For the 40th edition of the MMFF, the other mainstream entries competing are: Feng Shui 2, Shake, Rattle & Roll XV, Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, English Only Please, Muslim Magnum .357, and My Big Bossing.

Is Vice Ganda more nervous about being pitted against the Kris Aquino-Coco Martin starrer Feng Shui 2 or the Vic Sotto-Ryzza Mae Dizon starrer My Big Bossing?

"Wala," he said simply.

"Tingnan natin, baka nerbiyosin ako sa first week. Kampante pa ako."

Is Vice Ganda conscious about box-office figures?

And He never failed me.

In 2011, Vice Ganda starred in The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin while in 2012, he topbilled Sisterakas as well as This Guy's in Love with U Mare! In 2013, he played the four leads in Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy.

What is their target for the box-office gross of The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin?

The comedian answered: "Siguro mga...P600 [million]...I-six hundred na natin para kung hindi man matupad, may P500 [million] pa.

"Kung hindi man matupad, may P400 [million] pa.

"Wala naman mawawala kung ike-claim."

BREACHING THE BILLION-MARK. For Direk Wenn Deramas, he believes they can surpass the box-office milestone reached by the first installment of Praybeyt Benjamin.

To think hindi pa [MMFF] nung inere namin...October yun [pinalabas]."

When asked about the box-office gross of The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, Direk Wenn said it earned P342 million.

As for the combined box-office receipts, Direk Wenn disclosed that Vice Ganda's movies have reached 1.5 billion since he started his career in 2007.

ON WORKING AGAIN WITH TOM RODRIGUEZ. Vice Ganda and Tom Rodriguez reunite for Praybeyt Benjamin 2 after working with each other for the 2010 movie Petrang Kabayo.

Why did they choose Tom Rodriguez as the kontrabida in the movie? In the film, Tom's character is the head of a terrorist group threatening them with a destructive bomb that only Bimby's character can diffuse.

Does Vice Ganda feel "libog" for Tom?

Will Tom have topless scenes in this MMFF 2014 entry?

"Ah, siyempre," said Vice Ganda with a smile.

ON BECOMING AN ACTION STAR. Vice Ganda mentioned that he wants to star in an action movie.

"Gusto ko maging first gay action star. Kasi di ba parang wala pang ganun?"

Tom then interjected: "Grabe talaga ang action scenes niya dito.
