Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme grosses P100 million; outperforms first installment of comedy film

Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme has grossed P100 million in a span of 11 days.

According to Star Cinema, the horror-comedy film reached the P100 million mark last Saturday, June 23. The movie had its premiere night last June 12, Independence Day.

This allowed Kimmy Dora 2 to outperform the first installment released years ago. In 2009, Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme was able to gross P80 million when it was shown in cinemas.

Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal, this film is topbilled by Eugene Domingo who plays the dual role of the bitchy businesswoman Kimmy and the simple-minded Dora. In the sequel, the twin sisters discover a curse that plagues the Go Hong Hae family and their loved ones.

The second installment of this comedy film introduces new characters played by Ryan Bang, Alodia Gosiengfiao, and Kiray Celis.

It is co-produced by Star Cinema and Spring Films, a production outfit owned by actor Piolo Pascual, filmmaker Joyce Bernal, talent manager Erickson Raymundo, and cinematographer Shayne Sarte.

Based on TV Patrol's interview with Eugene Domingo aired on June 26, it was revealed that there are plans to come up with a third installment of Kimmy Dora.

Eugene is also slated to go to the Czech Republic to attend the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Her previous film, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, is up for exhibition in the said film fest.
