Sarah Geronimo on leading man Coco Martin: “Hindi naman naging bastos ang kissing scene namin.”

Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin are paired for the first time on the big screen for the romantic drama Maybe This Time. The movie, produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, has been graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

For Sarah Geronimo, she can truly relate to her character in Maybe This Time who has to deal with an overprotective mother.

The Popstar Princess revealed this during the premiere of the romantic drama held last night, May 27, at SM Megamall.

Sarah and her leading man Coco Martin led the cast members who graced the red-carpet event, namely Ruffa Gutierrez, Dennis Padilla, Kathleen Hermosa, Alex Castro, Marlann Flores, and Zeppi Borromeo.

Celebrities who showed their support for the first movie project of the CoSa (Coco-Sarah) tandem included Julia Montes, Angeline Quinto, Robi Domingo, and Annabelle Rama.

Senator Sonny Angara was also spotted at the premiere night. It will be recalled that Angara tapped Coco and Sarah to appear in his campaign ads during the last elections.

In the film Maybe This Time, Shamaine Buencamino is cast as the overprotective mother who wants to shield her daughter from pain.

Can Sarah relate to this aspect?

“Opo naman. Alam na ng mga tao yun. Parents are just being parents. Our parents want the best for us.”

Sarah is cast as of Steph/Teptep, a young girl who has a “summer to remember” with Tonio (played by Coco). He suddenly leaves her without an explanation and seven years later, their paths cross again but Tonio is currently in a relationship with Monica (played by Ruffa).

Since the movie also deals with closure (or the lack of it), Sarah believes that people will find love if it is meant to be.

“Sinabi ko nga, ang Diyos talaga kapag para sa iyo ang isang klase ng pag-ibig, ibabalik at ibabalik niya yun sa iyo.”

During a climactic scene in the movie, Sarah’s character suddenly leans towards Coco as if to kiss him.

When Sarah was asked about this scene, she insisted, “Kissing scene yun ha!

“Anong pakiramdam ko nung shinoot yun? Siyempre, kung kinakailangan talaga ng istorya, bakit hindi mo gagawin, di ba? Hindi naman naging bastos ang kissing scene namin.”

Did it feel awkward for her to shoot that scene?

“Hindi naman, hindi naman. Kailangan lang kasi sa istorya.”

COCO MARTIN ON CHEMISTRY WITH SARAH. Members of the press asked Coco if he really kissed Sarah in that final scene. “Secret!” said the actor with a big smile.

It seems that towards the end, it was Sarah’s character who initiated them to have a kiss.

“Oo, siya pala ang dead na dead sa akin,” joked Coco.

How was it like shooting that kissing scene? Was it awkward?

SARAH-JOHN LLOYD MOVIE? In the past, Sarah was paired with John Lloyd Cruz in three blockbuster films: A Very Special Love, You Changed My Life and It Takes a Man and a Woman.

Are there plans to release another movie featuring her tandem with John Lloyd?

“Definitely, masusundan yung kay John Lloyd. Opo naman,” said Sarah with a smile.

Upon watching this movie, would John Lloyd Cruz feel bad that Sarah agreed to shoot a kissing scene with Coco but not with him?

Sarah then stressed, “Si John Lloyd ang first kiss ko onscreen! Sa It Takes A Man and a Woman.”

According to a production insider, when the lead stars shot this kissing scene, Coco’s lips really did touch the lips of Sarah.

The Popstar Princess herself confirmed this by pointing to the middle part of her lips and said that Coco’s lips reached that portion.

“Si Coco medyo lumapit ng konti [referring to his lips],” she said with a smile.

Will there be a Part 2 for the love story of Steph/Teptep and Tonio?

“Hindi ko po alam. Sana. Sana ibang material, mas mature naman, mag level up naman.”

How would she describe her character in Maybe This Time compared to other characters that she portrayed in the past?

“Mas fit sa age ko kasi yung mga issues na pinagdadaanan ng character ko, talagang relateable.

“Siyempre, pagdating sa usaping puso, hindi pa naman ako kinakasal. Tingnan natin kung anong mangyayari sa buhay ko.”
