Auditions for new Darna now open to the public

Do you have what it takes to be the new Darna?

Auditions for the millennial Darna will be conducted by Star Cinema, Star Magic, and Star Hunt this May 2019.

The chosen actress will replace Liza Soberano who backed out from playing Darna due to an injury.

Star Cinema head Olivia Lamasan disclosed that several ladies have already tried out for the chance to play the Pinay superheroine.

"We’ve had several auditions from our very own artists from Star Magic,” Lamasan was quoted as saying in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

“Nagpatawag din kami from several talent scouts, modeling agencies, talent agencies. Kahit mga past contestants of beauty pageants, kahit sa field of sports — may athletes din na nakapag-audition na.”

Star Hunt is looking for females with following qualifications:

20 to 26 years old

At least 5'5" in height

With acting experience

Fluent in Tagalog

Physically fit


The open auditions will be held on May 4 and 5 at the ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City.

According to director Jerrold Tarog, he wants the Darna reboot to feature a coming-of-age story.
