Sharon Cuneta and John Arcilla led the cast members who attended the premiere night of the horror film Kuwaresma.
The director's cut of the movie was shown during the May 13 premiere night of the movie held at SM Megamall. Moviegoers now have the chance to choose between R-13 version and the director's cut of the film that is rated R-16 by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Directed by Erik Matti, Kuwaresma is the Mother’s Day offering of Reality Entertainment. It is now being shown in cinemas nationwide.
Sharon Cuneta and John Arcilla play Rebecca and Arturo Fajardo, a married couple in Kuwaresma. They are dealing with the death of their daughter Manuela (played by Pam Gonzales). Their son Luis (played by Kent Gonzales) returns home to find out the truth about the mysterious death of his twin sister.
In Kuwaresma, Sharon's character is a doctor who tries desperately to protect her children from her husband. Arturo is a strict father who has a dark secret of his own.
Pam Gonzales (leftmost) is the real-life sister of Kent Gonzales (second from left). When Pam's character dies, her ghost haunts her family members as her soul seeks peace.
Eat Bulaga co-host Maureen Wroblewitz was one of the guests who walked the red carpet. She was spotted going on a date with singer JK Labajo that night.
During her speech that night, Sharon Cuneta thanked her daughter Frankie Pangilinan for attending the premiere of Kuwaresma.
Hayden Kho and Vicki Belo attended the premiere to support Quark Henares. As Head of Globe Studios, Quark serves as a co-producer of this film.

Direk Erik Matti said about the differences between the R-13 version and the director's cut: "Maliit lang po ang naputol sa [R-16 version] pero crucial yung mapapanood ninyong eksena na nabawasan sa R-13 na cut."
He also disclosed the inspiration behind this film: "Homage namin ito sa '80s Tagalog movie classics. Think Karnal na may demonyo at multo. Think Haunted Mansion na may demonyo."
To end his speech, Direk Erik expressed his love for his girlfriend. He exclaimed, "Michiko Yamamoto, I love you!"
Kent Gonzales is a newbie actor who plays Luis, the son of Sharon Cuneta and John Arcilla's characters. In a previous interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), he said that he got bruises while filming one of the most difficult scenes in the movie.
