Remember when Joey de Leon starred in a movie parody about the comics superhero Batman?
The movie was Alyas Batman En Robin, a musical parody he headlined in 1991 with Keempee de Leon and Rene Requiestas. Joey portrayed Batman, Keempee was Robin, and Rene played the Joker.
The showing of Alyas Batman En Robin was delayed when Warner Bros. threatened to file a lawsuit for copyright infringement.
Amazingly, 31 years later, clips from the movie were retrieved and shown on the video post on Twitter of TV host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel, host of the nightly talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the States.
Hollywood had shown several versions of Batman, and the latest, The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the superhero, is now playing in theaters worldwide, except in Russia.
In a recent episode of his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel addressed the decision of Hollywood studios to pause the anticipated releases of their movies, including The Batman, in Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
In the meantime, Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s official Twitter account wrote, “Warner Brothers will not be releasing @TheBatman in Russia, so the Kremlin unveiled a teaser trailer for their own…”
The post then showed Jimmy Kimmel-made parody trailers, one of which featured shots from Alyas Batman En Robin.
Here are some screenshots from the clip.

Some Pinoys on Twitter saw the video and tagged Joey on Twitter:
As of this writing, Joey has not yet reacted to Jimmy Kimmel’s post.
Alyas Batman En Robin, which was originally produced by VIVA Films in 1989, was eventually released on April 6, 1991 by Regal Films.
