Mas marami nang ni-review ngayon ang Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

“More movies are coming in,” nakangiting sambit ng bagong MTRCB chairperson na si Atty. Jeremiah Jaro nang mainterbyu ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) noong Marso 25, 2022, Biyernes ng gabi, sa MMFF 2022 Appreciation Dinner sa Novotel Hotel, Araneta City, Quezon City.

“TV shows also. Mukhang everything’s going back to the… I don’t know, ano bang tawag sa kanya? Old Normal? New Normal?”

Meron na bang pelikulang Pilipino na nagpa-review ngayong 2022?

“Meron. I think nung other day, may isa yata.

“I can’t speak for the producers. Kasi, I’m not sure kung ano ang mga difficulties nila sa filming and producing movies,” tugon ni MTRCB Chair Jaro.

“Hopefully, they’ll find their footing… Of course, we want more local films but I don’t think it’s in us to force them to make movies.

“Siyempre, mahirap naman pilitin. Nagre-recover pa lang sila from the pandemic. But personally, more Filipino films syempre, better. Mas preferred namin yun.”

NEW MTRCB CAMPAIGN

“I don’t think it would depend on the election. We’re waiting siguro sa stakeholders,” pahayag ni MTRCB Chair Jaro.

“If they need something from us, nagpapadala naman sila ng communication. And if we can do something with regard to their concerns, we will respond in due time.”

Kasi, I came in late last year na rin, e, November. Ngayon, they’re still working.

“Ngayon, back on track sila. Hopefully, maybe next month, or in two months, meron nang new infomercial yung agency.

“Na-delay lang talaga dun sa pandemic. All agencies, all sectors, naapektuhan ng pandemic.”

Kumpleto na ngayon ang members ng MTRCB. Meron na itong thirty (30) board members. Back-to-work na sila sa office?

“Yeah. Mandated kami. Kailangan, required. Pero siyempre, there are board members na may comorbidities,” saad ni MTRCB Chair Jaro.

“So, we make arrangements na may work from home din sila.

“With regards to streaming, it’s a very complicated issue talaga. So, right now, ang ginagawa ng board, we’re always discussing it,” pag-amin ni MTRCB Chair Jaro.

“Nagko-collaborate kami actually with agencies — both international and local — para ma-figure out kung ano ba talaga dapat gawin with online.

“Kasi, right now we’re relying more on self-regulation. That online streamers will self-regulate.

“Tapos, they’ve been very receptive naman, e. We’ve had discussions with some of these streamers and hopefully, may ma-work out kami na win-win for everyone.”

Mahabang proseso pa ito?

“Yes. I can’t say kung ano talaga yung timeline but I think, more discussions and research have to be done.”

“So, probably baka puwede kaming mag-set ng dialogue with these local streamers. Tapos, we can talk about kung ano yung pwedeng gawin.

“I think it’s in their interest also… sa social responsibility nila na they want to protect the kids din naman, e. It’s not just us.”
